Strictly star Nigel Harman on wife's feelings about show after 'row backstage'

Nigel Harman has spoken fondly of his wife's support on Strictly Come Dancing - amid claims they had a huge row.

An audience member at the Blackpool filming recently stepped forward to claim Nigel vented his anger towards his wife when he scored unfavourably during the Blackpool Week of Strictly two weeks ago. The former EastEnders star and his dance partner Katya Jones, 34, thrilled the audience with their Quickstep which they performed to the sound of Duke Ellington's song It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing) but they received slightly more critique and thus marks from the judges.

After receiving his scores from Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton du Beke, who all gave him and eight, and a seven from Craig Revel Horwood, Nigel couldn't hide his disappointed and sources later claimed he went over to his wife to share his feelings.

The audience member has claimed to the MailOnline about what happened between Nigel and his wife when the cameras were off: "It all kicked off when he got his scores from the judges. When the cameras stopped rolling he stormed back to his seat and beckoned his wife over. You could tell she knew what was coming. She tried to pacify him but [that] didn’t work and he took his disappointment out on her. After he walked off, Katya then tried to console her. She was visibly upset."

Tonight on It Takes Two, Nigel told host Fleur East about how supportive his wife has been with him being on the show. He said: "She's been incredible and very supportive. She's been keeping me going in many ways, with a packed lunch. Every Wednesday, her and my daughter would come to training. I think she's proud of me and I think there's a little element of you're better than I thought you were going to be. She was wonderful and continues to be wonderful and I feel very lucky and very blessed."

Nigel had to pull out the show after suffering an injury to his ribs. Speaking about his injury, Nigel revealed: "I was leaping off a rostrum and was about to be caught by some very handsome men and as I flew, I ‘Peter Panned’ as I landed and I was in A&E. So I’ve done something to my rib, basically and it’s quite painful. I’m a little bit high on painkillers as well, but I’m having a lovely time."
