Kasabian have today announced a massive homecoming show for fans.

The indie rock group consisting of Serge Pizzorno, Chris Edwards, Ian Matthews and Tim Carter are no strangers when it comes to delivering epic shows and their homecoming will be no different. But the band have also confirmed their forthcoming album, Happenings, which is due to be released next summer.

Teased as Summer Solstice II, Serge and co will take to the stage at Leicester's Victoria Park in front of 38,000 music lovers, ten years after they last headlined the public space in their hometown. Following the news on social media, fans have been sent into a frenzy.

Following on from the release of their Number One album last summer, The Alchemist's Euphoria there are no signs that the group will be slowing down any time soon. Speaking about the upcoming event, Kasabian said: "We are truly honoured to be playing Victoria Park in our beloved hometown, with all our people for summer solstice two. We cannot wait to get out there and play the biggest party of the summer with you all. See you in the mosh pit."

But an electric show isn't all fans can expect as the Kasabian lads also announced that the Kaiser Chiefs will be joining them as a support act, with more to be announced in due course. But while their last headline slot at Victoria Park may have been ten years ago, the rockers performed a secret set at the venue in 2016 to celebrate Leicester City winning the Premier League.

Speaking about the show, Serge told Sky News: "It's creating memories, creating things that are etched in your brain forever, seeing something like this in your hometown, you know - the sound, the noise, the music - those memories, that's what you take with you when you look back on your life and it's like, you've gotta be there, you can't miss it, you can't let this happen and not be at that gig, you know?

"It's creating those moments and doing it where you're from and inspiring the next wave, hopefully, of young kids in Leicester seeing it happen and then them starting a band, that's kind of what it's all about" Meanwhile, Chris added: "It's 10 years after the first one, it's something we've always wanted to do again, and it's something that we can give back to the city. There's no big arena in Leicester, so this is our arena. This is where the big shows happen. And so to be able to do it again is just a privilege."

Reacting to the news, singer Miles Kane exclaimed: "Here we go baby, count me in." While Example added: "Love to see it." Although celeb fans were ecstatic as one typed: "It's going to be the biggest day of the year." A second penned: "Never been Leicester so road trip it is," alongside a flame emoji.

Meanwhile, one joked that the group should change the date as it clashes with the Euros Quarter Final and the British Grand Prix. Fan pre-sale goes live at 9.30am on December 7, with general sale going live on Friday, December 8 at 9.30. Tickets can be found here.
