Woman gobsmacked by cleaning tip that saw limescale 'dissolve before her eyes'
Fans of cleaning ace Mrs Hinch are raving about a tip guaranteed to get rid of limescale.
Whether it's your tap, shower screen, or toilet, limescale can tarnish the look of your surfaces and is a nightmare to scrub off. It appears when hard water evaporates and produces a hard, chalk-like deposit. The more this builds, the harder it is to remove, and the more unsightly it becomes.
However, one woman has found a solution she was so impressed with, she had to share it. Posting on the Mrs Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook page, ther woman explained how she'd been struggling to remove the 'gross stains' marring her toilet since she moved in.
"We'd tried literally everything, or so I thought,"she said. "A few of you recommended Spirits of Salt. I can't believe it. Poured it in and watched as it literally dissolved the limescale stains before my eyes.
“Closed the door with all the windows open in the bathroom for an hour, and this is the end result. I am so chuffed, thank you all so much for your help!”
Cleaning guru shares why you shouldn't make your bed first thing in the morningFellow group members also hailed the product's effectiveness but advised that it should be used with caution. "[It's] good stuff but it is hydrochloric acid," one user wrote. "Be careful when using it. It can be dangerous."
Others recommended making sure you ventilate the room well when using the item, while one woman warned it could 'burn your nostrils'. Priced at around £3.50 from retailers such as HomeBase, Max Strength Spirit of Salt is 'stronger than standard cleaners' and can be used for 'descaling, cleaning, and degreasing'.
For those wanting to try the cleaning tip out themselves, simply pour half a bottle (250ml) around the toilet bowl and leave it for 15 minutes. For tougher-to-remove limescale, you can leave the product on overnight. Flush the toilet with plenty of cold water before using it again.
