It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Thanks to a flurry of snow over the weekend, that festive feeling is starting to take over.

So what better time to start diving into some festive films, and who better to do that with than The Muppets and their 1992 musical, The Muppets Christmas Carol. Starring Oscar-winner Michael Caine, the Christmas classic sees a host of Muppets including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and The Great Gonzo performing their own heart-warming rendition of a beloved and classic story.

The film takes place on one fateful Christmas Eve, as greedy penny-pincher Ebenezer Scrooge (Caine) is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. Alongside kind and humble Bob Cratchit (Kermit) and his family, the spirits open Scrooge’s eyes – and his heart – to the true meaning of Christmas.

Directed by Brian Henson – the son of Muppets creator Jim Henson – the film is an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ 1843 classic Christmas tale. With Gonzo serving as narrator – and a ‘Muppetised’ version of Dickens himself – The Muppets Christmas Carol also includes a series of original songs performed by its Muppet cast.
