Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not been invited to the next royal wedding this summer.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were reportedly excluded from the invitation list for what's set to be the "society wedding of the year" as the Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor will marry Olivia Henson at Chester Cathedral in June. King Charles, Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales have made the list, however, the Sunday Times revealed.

Hugh is a close friend of the royals and seems to have decided to avoid inviting the Sussexes "to avoid a family clash in the House of Windsor." It's also thought that Prince William is in the running to be the best man as Hugh is the godfather of his son, Prince George.

Hugh is also the godfather to Prince Archie, so the exclusion will come as a huge blow particularly to Harry, who was close to the Duke. A spokesman for Grosvenor told The Times: “We are not in a position to comment on the guest list.”

A friend of William and Harry’s told the publication: “It’s incredibly sad it has come to this. Hugh is one of very few close friends of William and Harry’s who has maintained strong bonds and a line of communication with both.

"He wishes they could put their heads together and patch things up, but realises it’s unlikely to happen before the wedding. He wanted to avoid anything overshadowing the day, especially for Olivia, and doesn’t want any awkwardness.”

Things seemed to be slowly improving for the royal family, as it was widely reported that a Royal Christmas could be on the cards for the Sussexes, which came after an insider told a national paper: "I can’t imagine the Sussexes would decline an invitation to spend time with His Majesty. As of yet, there have not been any invitations for the holidays."

But after Omid Scobie's Endgame was released last week – which relit the royal race row fire as the Dutch translation named King Charles and Kate Middleton as the royals alleged to have made remarks about Prince Archie's skin colour – Harry has been urged to "let go" of any ideas of a reunion.

"It feels like Harry has finally accepted that fighting for what he wants isn't getting him any closer to a resolution, therefore he needs to let it go and learn to move forward," PR strategist Laura Perkes told us. "Time is a great healer, so it may be that he needs to let the dust settle and focus on other aspects of his life."

Over time, reconciliation may happen, once all parties involved are ready to do so, but the relationship will never be the same again, and that's something he needs to live with."
