Charles evicted Harry and Meghan as 'punishment' at Anne's request, book claims
Princess Anne played a pivotal role in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's eviction from their beloved Windsor home, an explosive new book has claimed.
The huge blow for the Sussexes came as the Royal Family awaited the Duke of Sussexes' tell-all memoir, Spare, as fury grew within the Royal household that Prince Harry would make such a irrevocable move against his family.
According to Omid Scobie's new bombshell book, Endgame, the Princess royal persuaded her brother King Charles to "withdraw the use" of Frogmore Cottage, pointing out the fact that Harry and Meghan were no longer royals.
This didn't stop the monarch from offering the keys to disgraced Prince Andrew, who was demoted from his working royal duties after his scandalous friendship with convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein brought shame on the family.
Meghan and Harry had spent a cool £2.4 million on renovating the cottage not long before the eviction notice was plastered on the door, leaving the couple dismayed at Charles' move, particularly at a time when concerns for their own safety while visiting the UK were at an all-time high without the assistance of royal protection.

Scobie claims that it was Princess Anne who initiated the decision to strip the Sussexes of their English residence, as he writes: "While gathered at Sandringham, Princess Anne suggested to Charles that it was time he took away the Sussexes' Frogmore Cottage home and Prince Andrew's Royal Lodge residence." According to his sources, the King "knew she was right" and the nail was in the coffin.
Meghan and Harry were reportedly "shocked" and "disappointed" at the move, particularly after they were made aware that Charles had offered Andrew the property. "For Charles, the issue of Frogmore Cottage wasn't just about punishing his son, although sources say that 'undoubtedly' played a significant role; it was also part of the effort to streamline the portfolio of properties being used by members of the family," Scobie alleges.
Elsewhere in the book, Scobie writes that Meghan Markle wrote private letters to the King in Spring of 2021 following the Oprah interview, to discuss the "conversations" which took place surrounding Archie's skin colour. The correspondence named the two royal family members who had allegedly made remarks about Archie's skin tone.
The King is said to have wanted his return letters to express how he felt no "casual prejudice" had been involved. But the names of those involved are not disclosed in the book. Author Scobie claims that the royals have been identified to him, but "laws in the United Kingdom prevent me from reporting who they were." It remains a mystery as to whether the second accused person is a member of the Royal Family or a royal staffer, but the book makes it clear they are a member of the Royal Household.
In his tell-all tome Endgame, Scobie, who was one of the authors of the Sussexes' biography Finding Freedom, "pulls back the curtain on an institution in turmoil" in a bid to "show what the monarchy must change in order to survive". Endgame is set to be published in the UK on Tuesday but has already been released in Australia, after being pushed back from August to include events surrounding the King's Coronation. It is subtitled "Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival".
Other explosive allegations in the book include Meghan "never" wanting to "set foot again in England again". It also claims Kate and Meghan's soured relationship is damaged beyond repair, as Scobie's sources claim that "every time she hears about Meghan, Kate shudders and giggles."
There are bombshells about Harry and William's fractured relationship too with the Prince of Wales now considering the Duke of Sussex an "outsider" after he published his controversial memoir Spare in which he alleged his older brother physically attacked him. It also claims King Charles dismissed a desperate plea from Harry for an urgent meeting because he was "overworked" and instead "ordered an assistant to get rid of him with the excuse".
The headings of chapters include: 'Shaky Ground: The Queen is Dead, the Monarchy Faces Trouble', 'The Fall of Prince Andrew: Scandal, Shame and Silencing Jane Doe'. 'Race and the Royals: Institutional Bigotry and Denial', 'Gloves On: Prince William, Heir to the Throne', and 'Gloves Off: Prince Harry, Man on a Mission'.
