PS Plus Essential December 2023 reveal time and predicted games
The PS Plus Essential games for December 2023 are set to be revealed later this week. Here's what three games we think are likely to show up, just in time for the festive season to enter full swing.
Subscribers to PS Plus Essential had to make do with a mediocre month due to what the PS Plus Essential November 2023 lineup ended up being, if we’re honest, with Mafia 2: Definitive Edition, Dragonball: The Breakers, and Aliens: Fireteam Elite not really setting the world on fire. That’s why hopes are high that as we enter the Christmas period, PlayStation will have some cooler treats for subscribers to unwrap. Luckily, it’s only a few more days until we find out what games it’ll include.
As always, our predictions will be partially informed by last year’s PS Plus Essential December lineup, which the PlayStation Blog reminds us well and truly impressed heading into the festive season. Last year PS Plus Essential subscribers received Biomutant, Divine Knockout: Founder’s Edition, but most impressively Mass Effect Legendary Edition – the latter of which includes three games in one. If PlayStation wants to go with another big, sci-fi epic for December 2023, our bets are on PS5 launch exclusive Returnal.
The other two games suggest that PS Plus Essential members may also be getting a so-so third-party game and a charming enough but hardly amazing indie title. For the former we’ll predict something recent-ish like SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake or Need for Speed Unbound, while on the indie front a breakout hit from last year like Cursed to Golf or Chained Echoes seems like a smart bet. If PlayStation wanted to treat players to another trilogy, however, GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition would certainly get folks talking and is yet to appear as a PS Plus Essential title.
PS Plus Essential December 2023 reveal time
While the PS Plus Essential titles for each month are tricky to predict, we know for certain that they’re always revealed on the last Wednesday of the month. This means that the PS Plus Essential December 2023 free games will be announced on Wednesday, November 29 at the usual time of 4.30pm GMT / 12:30pm EST / 9:30am PST .

The PS Plus Essential games will then become available to download on the first Tuesday of the month, which in this instance means subscribers can start playing the new lineup on Tuesday, December 5 at 10amGMT / 5am EST / 2am PST .
PS Plus Essential games are only available until the following month's lineup drops, so you'll have until Tuesday, January 2 to redeem them. On that note, if you've yet to add the PS Plus Essential November 2023 games to your library, make sure you do so before Tuesday, December 5 . Even if you don’t plan on playing them anytime soon, simply add them to your library and you’ll have indefinite access to download them for as long as you stay subscribed to PS Plus Essential.
