Girls Aloud have received the blessing of late member Sarah Harding’s family to go on tour - and to include her vocals in the upcoming 2024 tour.

The iconic girl group announced this past week that they will be going on the road next year to perform in a string of venues with a new tour titled the Girls Aloud Show - which is being held to celebrate and honour the memory of late singer Sarah who tragically died in 2021 at the age of 39 following a cancer battle. The band will take in dates up and down the UK for the greatest hits tour during the months of May and June.

Surviving members Nadine Coyle, 38, Nicola Roberts, 38, Cheryl Tweedy, 40, and 42-year-old Kimberley Walsh thrilled fans on Thursday by announcing their tour - bringing them back to the stage more than a decade after their 2013 Ten: The Hits Tour. The new tour is set to commemorate Sarah - and the band are said to be delighted to have received the blessing of the late singer’s mother, Marie Hardman.

The group reportedly would only allow the show to go ahead with Marie’s blessing, and have also been granted her approval for Sarah’s vocals to be used at points in the show. The reunion tour will also see a cut of money get sent to Sarah’s estate as the group plan to continue to perform like they are a five piece.

A source told the Mail on Sunday: “The girls wanted to include Marie from start to finish. They wanted her to feel part of all of this and not do anything at all that might not be right for her.

“Marie, of course, was absolutely thrilled that there would be a tour, but also that Sarah will be very much included in it to the extent that nobody thought would be imaginable. It was important to the girls that they ran through everything with Marie.”

The report also revealed the detail that Girls Aloud will split profits from the tour five ways, with Sarah's estate benefitting too. The insider said: “That's the right thing to do. There were five girls in the band.”

While news of the Girls Aloud reunion tour delighted fans - some were left disappointed when the group announced they won’t be releasing any new music in support of the tour. However, they did give a valid reason for not wanting to add new tunes to their repertoire while touring in memory of Sarah.

Cheryl explained to Vogue: “We couldn’t because Sarah wouldn’t be included in that newness. This is about celebrating the 20 years we’ve all had. So the tour has got to be inclusive of Sarah because she’s such a massive part of our make-up. It will never feel like the old Girls Aloud again but we’ve reached a point where we feel ready to celebrate all of it, Sarah included.”
