Strictly Come Dancing's Angela Scanlon devastating blow days before final
Angela Scanlon has been dealt a crushing blow days before the final of Strictly Come Dancing.
Despite scoring their highest mark yet for their Argentine Tango, Angela is the bookies favourite to be sent home next. Partnered with Carlos Gu, she's set to perform the Cha Cha to I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor on Saturday night and they'll certainly be hoping to survive if they end up in the dance-off.
Bookmakers have revealed Angela and Annabel Croft are head to head to be sent packing next. With just six names still standing, the bookies have the pair priced at 7/4 apiece to be eliminated next, while Bobby Brazier and Nigel Harman are 5/1 each for an unlikely exit.
Elsewhere, Ellie Leach is unsurprisingly the safest celeb still in the competition, at 66/1 to be the next name to leave the show. Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "Punters are split between two unfortunate acts for this weekend's Strictly boot."
"As things stand Annabel and Angela lead the way - by some distance - to be sent packing. Anything else at this point would no doubt go down as the biggest shock of the series so far."
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tourLast week, Carlos broke down in tears after scoring 38 out of 40 for his Argentine Tango with Angela. Carlos told host Claudia Winkleman: "I am so proud. I am so happy the judges gave the comments to her like that. She's been down actually for quite a few weeks. Hearing that, I am just really happy."
Carlos, speaking on It Takes Two, shared why he was so moved after receiving high scores. "It was just unexpected, the comments, and the scores," he said. "I was so relieved and proud."
Angela chimed in: "It was a very special moment, we've got a really special bond and it was very emotional for both of us." She added, "I don't show my emotions as well as Carlos, it was a moment I won't forget."
Meanwhile, Loki actor Tom Hiddleston has shared his thoughts on who should make it to the Strictly final. On Zoe Ball's Radio 2 show, he admitted it's been "difficult to determine" but he's hopeful for Ellie to be in the top three.
"It's been difficult to determine who is going to go all the way this year," he commented. "I think Ellie is maybe the most improved. She's extraordinary, pretty amazing."
However, Tom noted: "It's really interesting, because obviously Layton and Nigel came out of the blocks really fast and were very impressive. It was like, wow, these guys can dance."
He added, "But then I think maybe the judges have been a bit tougher on them because it's like, well, technique, ballroom. Maybe you've got rhythm, but this is a ballroom thing. Which I respect - I don't know anything about it."
