Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is poised to continue his squad overhaul over the course of the next two transfer windows, with as many as 13 players set to leave Old Trafford.

Ten Hag has been ruthless since taking the reins in the summer of 2022. More than a dozen players left in his first window, some of them thanks to contracts which had already been due to expire, with many more departing ahead of the 2023-24 campaign and Cristiano Ronaldo completing a high-profile exit in the interim.

There has also been plenty in the way of spending, with hundreds of millions put towards the signings of Ten Hag picks including Casemiro, Antony and Lisandro Martinez. The Premier League's profit and sustainability rules continue to loom large over United and a number of their rivals, though, and that could mean a fair few more departures.

Among those at the top of the 'to-go' pile are Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood, for different reasons. Sancho has been frozen out by Ten Hag following a public falling-out in September and is expected to leave in January - though perhaps only on loan.

Greenwood is already out on loan, with United having previously said he will not play for the club again. A permanent exit could well follow, be it to Getafe - where he has been picking up minutes - or another suitor.

The Manchester Evening News names the duo in a list of potential departures which is into double figures, with Donny van de Beek another senior player who seems to have no future at the club. Dutch midfielder Van de Beek was left out of United's Champions League squad this season and has played just two minutes of Premier League football.

One man who could leave despite playing a little more this season is Anthony Martial . The striker has struggled with fitness throughout Ten Hag's tenure, averaging just 26 minutes per appearance this season with the bulk of his games coming in brief runouts from the bench.

The French frontman is out of contract in the summer with an option for a further year, but United may decide not to take up that option. Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Hannibal are in a similar position contract-wise, though all three are expected to have those one-year options extended.

Two men without such an extension option are Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton . The veterans, who would not generate any resale value, could well find themselves moving on at the end of the current campaign.

United also have decisions to make on a number of youngsters at crossroads in their respective careers. Brandon Williams and Alvaro Fernandez both have extension options which may be impacted by their relative success on loan, and the MEN notes that the club have previously extended a youngster's deal only to then sell - most notably in the case of Tahith Chong.

Other academy stars who could move on are Shola Shoretire , Will Fish and Joe Hugill . None of the three appear close to a first-team breakthrough and could be allowed to leave if an offer comes in which meets the club's valuation.

Finally, there is the question of loanees Sofyan Amrabat and Sergio Reguilon . United have an option on the former, but his slow start in English football has cast doubt on whether they will exercise it, while deadline day loanee Reguilon may find his opportunities limited when Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia return from injury.
