Dancing on Ice bosses 'in limbo' over Holly Willoughby's future hosting on show

Dancing on Ice bosses are reportedly in crisis over uncertainty about Holly Willoughby's future on the ITV1 reality show.

It's understood that the 42-year-old, who has hosted the popular skating competition since 2006, hasn't yet agreed to return for the upcoming season in January. It's believed that Holly, who resigned from This Morning in October after 14 years, is concerned about getting back on screen.

Dancing on Ice has several celebs ready to compete, but is still yet to officially confirm its presenters. It was formerly hosted by Phillip Schofield, who hosted from 2006 to 2023, as well as Christine Lampard, who filled in for Willoughby from 2012 to 2014. Stephen Mulhern is rumoured to be Phillip's replacement but it remains unknown who'll be standing next to the beloved magician on the next series if he takes the job.

"In many ways the producers of Dancing on Ice are in limbo until they can resolve the issue of who'll be steering the ship when the show returns," an insider told the Sun, before calling it a "very precarious position" for the bosses to be in. The insider adding ITV have "nobody nailed on to present it".

In a statement shared with the publication, a spokesperson for ITV stated: “Further announcements regarding Dancing on Ice will be made in due course.”

Holly, 42, confirmed her departure from This Morning last month. "I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family. I will miss you all so much." The shocking development came just a few months after Phillip announced his exit from the ITV breakfast show, as well as Dancing on Ice, following revelations of an affair with a younger TV runner.

Ashley Banjo, Christopher Dean, Oti Mabuse, and Jayne Torvill will all return to the judging panel. They will offer their constructive feedback to a line-up of familiar faces, including Coronation Street star Adam Thomas and Love Island winner Amber Davies. Other celebrities who have signed up for Dancing on Ice 2023 include S Club 7's Hannah Spearritt, Olympic Ski jumper Eddie the Eagle, EastEnders actor Ricky Norwood and BBC radio host Adele Roberts.

Gogglebox's Stephen Lustig-Webb was forced to withdraw from the upcoming series of Dancing on Ice after breaking his ankle in October during training for the show. The 52-year-old had to undergone surgery for the nasty injury and was told that he'd be on crutches for three months, meaning there was no possible way for him to continue in the competition.

"I’m absolutely gutted," he told his fans after the accident. "I was having so much fun and enjoying learning to skate. I will of course be keeping a close eye on all of the other celebs and pros and supporting them all the way. "Unfortunately, I will also have to pull out of the London Marathon. I’m doing my best to keep my spirits up and will hopefully be back on my feet again very soon."
