Liverpool are steadily building this season with their win over Brentford taking them to within a point of top spot.

The Reds failed to challenge in an underwhelming campaign last time out but have impressed thus far, losing just once in the Premier League. Mohamed Salah continues to be in the goals and scored for the 200th time as a Liverpool player against the Bees.

Jurgen Klopp's side will be able to underline their title credentials once the international break ends with a visit to the champions. They've yet to play Arsenal or Manchester City this term - with both teams on their fixture list before Christmas.

Here's the latest from Anfield.

Salah "taken for granted"

Harry Redknapp has warned Liverpool marksman Salah that he is being taken for granted.

Salah bagged a brace during Sunday's win for Reds as they saw off Brentford. The Egyptian has scored 12 goals in 17 games across all competitions this term as the club jump to second in the league.

"We take Mo Salah for granted. The amount of goals this fella scores year after year from the wide right position is remarkable," Redknapp told BetVictor when naming his Team of the Week. "He’s an all-time Premier League great. That first goal was typical Salah, he timed his run perfectly and slotted it away with ease. Even after all these years in the league, there’s not many better."

Konate injury boost

Liverpool have been given an injury boost after discovering that Ibrahima Konate’s hamstring injury is not likely to keep him sidelined for a lengthy period.

France head coach Didier Deschamps has stated that his withdrawal from their squad to face Gibraltar and Greece was merely a precaution.

Les Bleus already know they will be at next summer’s European Championships and, given Konate’s hamstring injury is a recurrence of a previous problem, Deschamps has said it was not in their interests to select the centre half, who missed Sunday's Premier League win over Brentford.

VVD issues City warning

Virgil van Dijk has warned Manchester City that Liverpool will be there to challenge them for the title once again.

The top two will clash in the first Premier League game after the international break at the Etihad. City have enjoyed a promising recent record against the Reds on their own patch, but games between the two sides have often been well contested over the years.

The Reds skipper is buoyed by their fine start to the season and says they need to maintain this consistency for the whole season. When asked if Liverpool can compete with City for the title, van Dijk said: “I hope so." He went on to add: “Overall this season we’ve been doing well, but the season is not decided in November and there could be so many twists and turns, we all know that. We focus on the game ahead of us."
