New Man Utd billionaire investor made his thoughts clear on Donald Trump
New Manchester United billionaire investor Leon Cooperman is no fan of former United States President Donald Trump - believing that he "belongs in jail:.
Cooperman has invested in the Premier League club, purchasing one million shares in the Red Devils, believed to be valued at around £13.4 million, on Tuesday, according to Bloomberg. There is plenty of intrigue in the latest man to become a player behind the scenes at United - and he has made his views on fellow American tycoon Donald Trump clear in the past.
Cooperman recently told CNN : "It would be terrible for the country if Donald Trump were reelected. He’s a divisive human being who belongs in jail."
It was a rare bashing of Trump from such a prominent Wall Street figure, with Cooperman being a supporter of the Republican party having donated millions in the past. Cooperman even suggested that he voted for Joe Biden in the 2020 Presidential Election, having wanted nothing to do with his fellow New Yorker.

Cooperman is the founder of Omega Advisors, and is said to have a net worth of £2.08 billion. When Trump became aware of Cooperman's quotes about him, one of his spokespersons responded, as he looks to lead the Republican party to become President once again in 2024.
His spokesperson Steven Cheung said: "Trump will be the nominee and will beat Biden because he’s the only person who can supercharge the economy, secure our border, safeguard communities and put an end to unnecessary wars."
Donald Trump is looking to run for President in 2024Cooperman's investment in Manchester United comes as Sir Jim Ratcliffe closes in on a deal to also invest in the club, in a heavier manner where he is said to have a 25 percent ownership.
Ratcliffe was one of the parties involved in hoping to complete a full takeover from the Glazers, but the American family are now looking to remain in the club with Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani pulling out of what would have been a record deal to purchase them.
This left Ratcliffe to complete a deal with the Glazers, where negotiations have been ongoing for multiple weeks with an announcement expect before Christmas. Ratcliffe is expected to take over full operations of the football club and of Old Trafford Stadium in the future.
Many fans have been extremely critical of the Glazers not selling the club to Sheikh Jassim, with Gary Nevile having a huge list of concerns last month amid suggestions that Ratcliffe was set to invest.
