James Martin has issued a heartfelt thank you to his legion of loyal fans as he takes a break from his cooking show after revealing he needed more cancer treatment.

The celebrity chef, 51, gave an update on his health last week during his sold-out show in Liverpool, insisting he would be "back fighting" at the end of February after going through a "lot of s**t with cancer". After being inundated by support on social media, he's now thanked his fans following reports his much-loved Saturday Morning is being replaced by a cooking series fronted by Jimmy Doherty.

Taking to X, James, who has been performing in a sold-out UK tour with cooking demonstrations and live music, wrote: "I just wanted to take this chance to say thank you for all (and there have been thousands) of the amazing messages I’ve had over the last few weeks. It’s been a pleasure to be on the road with an amazing bunch, appearing night after night for a fantastic group of people… All of you! There are so many to thank Sam, Thatch, Dan, the whole crew, Richard, Seb, Ben, Cuffe & Taylor and all at Live Nation!

"It’s been a pleasure, 4 tours nearly done! The Palladium again tonight…ha, ha what?! Next, watch this space…now team let’s give it the beans for tonight and the last night! Sunday night at the Palladium, what an honour…xx."

The Ready, Steady, Cook! star announced he was diagnosed with facial cancer in 2018. While at Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall last week, he told the crowd: "On a personal note, I just wanted to say thank you for 30 years of television. For me personally, I've been through a lot of s**t with cancer but I'm getting sorted at the end of next month. "I will be back fighting at the end of February but I'm going on a little bit of a break to get that sorted.

"I just wanted to say thank you for all your support and all your messages." James has previously had surgery to remove the cancer but said it has "returned on several occasions" and he has to have "regular treatments".

James has fronted the Saturday Morning cookery show on ITV since 2017, but it’s been reported that farmer Jimmy - best known for being Jamie Oliver’s best mate and fronting his own cookery shows - is being lined up to replace the Yorkshireman. The 48-year-old usually presents shows on BBC and Channel 4, such as Food Unwrapped and Jamie and Jimmy’s Friday Night Feast, but could be heading for ITV in its primetime slot.

According to The Sun, Jimmy will be launching a new cooking show called Jimmy’s Taste of Florida. The series will see the farmer explore the culinary delights of the Sunshine State, which he's been to recently, sharing snaps of the local restaurants and cuisines on Instagram.
