TV presenter and author Dawn O'Porter has shared a touching tribute to Caroline Flack, on what would have been the star's 44th birthday.

Caroline Flack tragically took her own life in February 2020 at the age of 40, in the wake of waiting for a court appearance on charges of assaulting her then-boyfriend Lewis Burton. The shock news of her death sparked a 'Be Kind' movement on social media, with many famous faces and stars coming out to support each other and call for support for mental health.

Nearly four years after the death of Caroline Flack, who was known for her presenting roles on programmes like Love Island and The X Factor, she's been remembered by friends and loved ones including Dawn O'Porter.

Writing on social media, Dawn shared a snap of herself alongside Caroline holding her son as a baby. She captioned the heartwarming memory: "Happy birthday, Caroline. Remember that Sunday lunch we had where I handed you my giant baby and he was bigger than you?

"It was also the lunch that we first came up with the idea to send a truck full of supplies to Calais. A power lunch, you could say, full of the usual laughing until we pee’d. Me more than you, because of my giant baby. I miss you."

In March this year, the Met Police issued a formal apology to the family of Caroline Flack for the way they handled the case and for not recording the reason why the Love Island star had been charged. Caroline's family including her mum Christine Flack have since rejected the apology.

In March, Christine spoke to to Victoria Derbyshire on BBC's Newsnight as she said: "It just seems wrong. They haven't said why there were no notes taken, why nothing was recorded. I don't know whether they're covering something."

She added: "Once all the pictures came out in the newspapers and things were written about her on social media - they just picked up the bad. There was a lot of good, but Caroline wasn't reading the good - she was only reading the bad. She lost her job straight away, without even being found guilty or going to court. She had another series axed."
