Prince Harry has revealed the relationship break-up that hurt him the most.

In his bombshell memoir Spare he details some of his most intimate moments, including losing his virginity during a "humiliating episode" in a field.

He also talks about some of his ex-girlfriends, including Chelsey Davy, Cressida Bonas and the late TV presenter Caroline Flack.

But one of the most intriguing splits involved Florence St George - then-Brudenell-Bruce - whom the Duke of Sussex dated during the summer of 2011.

The daughter of wine merchant Andrew Brudenell-Bruce, 'Flea' is a former Tatler cover girl and was living in Notting Hill when she was introduced to Harry through mutual friends.

At the time, the prince was still recovering from his on-again-off-again relationship with Davy.

Recalling the night they met, he writes: "We sat at the bar, chatted and laughed, while the friends with us melted away, along with the walls and the drinks and the barman.

"I suggested the whole group go back to Clarence House for a nightcap."

Harry says the group spent the rest of the night listening to music and when it came time to go home, Harry gave Florence a lift back to her flat.

"When we pulled up outside her flat she invited me up for a cup of tea," he continues.

"Sure, I said. I asked my bodyguard to drive around the block a few hundred times."

Harry describes being blown away by his "strong" connection with this new woman and wondered if she might "be his person".

They spent an "idyllic" few weeks together but one day Florence phoned him saying there were eight paparazzi photographers outside her flat.

"She said she was under twenty-four-hour surveillance. Like some kind of criminal," Harry recalls.

"I could hear sirens in the background… She was upset, crying… She said one last time: 'I can't do this any more, Harry'."

The Duke said the breakup hit him hard and he "stopped sleeping" because he felt "so disappointed, so profoundly dejected".

Florence would go on to marry Henry Edward Hugh St George, the grandson of the Marchese di San Giorgio and maternal grandson of the 11th Duke of Grafton, in July 2013.
