Chris Kamara broke down in tears as he spoke about living with speech apraxia on ITV's Good Morning Britain on Thursday.

During the episode, Chris, 65, appeared on the show to talk about his health diagnosis and new memoir My Unbelievable Life. However, during the interview, Chris broke down in tears as he said: "I get upset talking about it because I was in denial... I was ashamed that I couldn't speak, you know..." to which he broke down in tears.

Host, Susanna Reid, was quick to support Chris, saying: "You've nothing to be ashamed of, honestly, let me just take your hand for a second Chris. Honestly, you've done so much to inspire other people."

Chris continued: "Ben [Shephard, who was also hosting GMB on Thursday] was behind me coming out and doing the documentary, talking about it. Once I had spoken about it, you get it off your chest, you realise everyone's behind you... family, friends, all with you... no matter what happens."

Ben replied: "Chris, it doesn't change how we feel about you, you need to understand that." At the end of the show, Chris said: "Can I say a big thanks to you, Ben, because none of this would have happened without your help!" Ben was left close to tears as he jumped up and declared: "I want a hug!", to which Chris and Ben emotionally hugged each other.
