Michael Jordan's son plans to marry NBA icon's former teammate-now-foe's ex-wife

Michael Jordan ’s son Marcus is dating Scottie Pippen’ s ex wife Larsa amid an already fractured relationship between the former Chicago Bulls teammates.

Back in 1998, Jordan and Pippen won their third successive NBA championship - and sixth overall - with the Bulls. The pair represented two key pillars during Chicago’s run that dominated the league across the decade, establishing themselves as one of the greatest sports dynasties in history.

In the 25 years since, their relationship has turned frosty. It turned particularly sour when Netflix documentary ‘The Last Dance’ was released in 2020, with Pippen taking exception to Jordan suggesting the forward was a secondary figure rather than feeling like the six-time Finals MVP’s equal.

Now, Jordan’s son Marcus wants his father to be the best man when he marries Larsa, Pippen’s ex-wife. The declaration is intriguing given Jordan’s lack of blessing when it comes to the relationship as Larsa only divorced Pippen in 2021.

Back in July, Jordan was asked about whether he approved of his son's romance by paparazzi while leaving a Paris restaurant. After initially responding by shaking his head, when pressed again, the 60-year-old doubled down by shouting: “No!” On Tuesday, Marcus and Larsa appeared on the podcast Pablo Torre Finds Out and discussed wedding details. Marcus confirmed the wedding was in the works and locations are still being discussed.

When asked if he wanted his father to give a toast, Marcus said: “You know, look, I was the best man at his wedding and at my brother’s wedding. We will keep the tradition going.” Marcus insisted his father has actually been supportive, adding: “The main thing from my dad was, ‘you’re a grown adult’. Ultimately as long as I’m happy, he’s happy. He’s never intervened in my dating life prior to Larsa, and he’s not going to start now.”

The Real Housewives of Miami star and Marcus were first linked to each other towards the end of 2022. Their relationship led to some controversy due to their age difference of 17 years as well as the history between her ex and his father, but they continued to enjoy one another’s company. Marcus and Larsa did admit that the dynamics of their relationship are odd. Larsa, who married Pippen in 1997, told Torre: “Aesthetically it probably doesn’t look good. Just to hear of it, it doesn’t resonate well with people.”

Larsa has spoken out and been honest on the awkward dynamic her relationship with Marcus exudes in the past. On the ‘Whine Down with Jana Kramer’ podcast, the 49-year-old said: “I've only hung out with his mom, his family is very private and I feel like it's probably awkward for them, for my ex, and (Michael), but I get it. I’m not crazy. I understand it's different for them. We have our own relationship, we have our own day-to-day lives, and it really doesn't involve anyone else other than us and my kids.”
