Ipswich Town's Brandon Williams has mocked Norwich City's Championship league position on social media.

The defender, who is on loan at Portman Road from Manchester United, previously played for the Canaries when they were a top flight outfit. For years Norwich have been the best performing side in East Anglia, but Ipswich have usurped them and currently sit in the promotion spots.

Kieran McKenna has got them second, winning 11 of their 13 games thus far. Norwich meanwhile are sat in 17th with Williams poking fun at them on Instagram, posting a picture of himself looking into the distance with the caption: "Me trying to see Norwich in the top half of the table".

Ipswich came from behind to see off Plymouth Argyle at the weekend, which kept them nine points ahead of Leeds, who sit in third. Norwich meanwhile lost for a fourth time in their last six outings as they continue to spiral down the table.

Manager David Wagner said after their latest defeat: "It's not that the dressing room does not stick together. You can see how they tried to chase the game when we were down and how they decided to lift individuals when they made mistakes. But, at the end of the day, this is something where we lack at the minute. The mistakes we're making at the minute are too big.

Williams spent a season at Carrow Road when they were relegated from the top flight and found himself in hot water after posting on social media on the same day Norwich were hammered by West Ham.

It resulted in him being followed home by fans, who abused him. The club later condemned their behaviour with Williams too coming out to fight his corner. He said: "After the abuse I was followed by individuals who only stopped following me once they became aware I had noticed them. However passionate fans are it is not right that a small minority abuse players or, in this case, follow them.

"Since arriving at Norwich I have played for the club as if I were a permanent member of the team. It is unfortunate that a small number of fans behave like this. There is no club investigation as incorrectly reported in the media. I would like to thank those fans who have sent me messages of support at this unsettling time."
