Love Island 2023 champion Sammy Root could be set for a Celebs Go Dating appearance, now that he is newly single and ready to move on.

The 22-year-old won the ITV2 reality series with Jess Harding in July, beating runner ups Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki for the coveted title.

However, the couple split after just a couple of months together, making their romances one of the shortest-lived ones on the show's history. The news broke in early October after weeks of speculation, with Jess verifying the breakup rumours in a Q&A on her Instagram Story. "It's been over a week now since we split so I'm getting there. We shared a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so of course I'm sad," the 23-year-old told her 831k followers in a written statement.

Sammy also confirmed their separation, taking to social media to admit that it came as a "total shock" to him. He also hinted that Jess had broken up with him virtually, writing, "Yes we had a private conversation regarding our relationship but this was left up in the air as Jess is still away and we haven't had a chance to speak in person." The Kent native went on to insist that he wanted a 'face-to-face' with his fellow Love Islander to give them a chance to "save the relationship", but was seemingly denied the opportunity to do so.

In a new interview with Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks, Sammy has now revealed that he'd be willing to appear on Celebs Go Dating in the future.

"I really enjoy being on TV. Yeah, so maybe some more TV work," he told the best friends on their Staying Relevant podcast. Sam and Pete, who starred on Made in Chelsea and TOWIE respectively, jumped in to suggest that he could be a potential candidate for Celebs Go Dating. Sammy coyly replied, "Possibly," in a nod that he's open to the idea.

The former project manager also discussed fame after reality television, which is the inspiration for Pete and Sam's podcast. "You can see it as just being on TV. Everyone knows who you are, but also just staying relevant as in making a career out of doing something you want to do," he said.

Sammy has been romantically linked to multiple people since his split from Jess, including fellow Love Island star Faye Winter.
