James Haskell breaks silence on 'sadness' of his split from Chloe Madeley
James Haskell has broken his silence following the news of his split from Chloe Madeley after weeks of speculation.
The daughter of TV stars Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan and the England rugby legend announced they have parted ways after five years of marriage. It comes after both Chloe and James were spotted without their wedding rings in recent weeks and follows the launch of their new reality TV show.
In a statement Chloe said: “James and I mutually decided separate at the end of September, 2023. We had not planned on releasing a statement at this time - certainly not while the television show was airing - but constant speculation about our marriage has, unfortunately, forced our hand.

Our sole focus now is our beautiful daughter. We shall continue to co-parent with nothing but love.” Breaking his silence on Instagram, James shared the same statement and added: "It's with a lot of sadness I write this post, but unfortunately, in the world we live in, it has to be done. My priority is my daughter’s and Chloe’s happiness and security. For that reason, I won't be commenting any further." Chloe then re-shared James' post onto her own account.
Just this week the pair reunited with each other after James returned from a boozy lads trip. The 38-year-old sports star recently enjoyed a trip to Paris where he was spotted partying with his pals without his wedding ring. Chloe and James said 'I do' in 2018, but speculation has been rife regarding the state of their relationship in recent times after Chloe was also spotted without her wedding band as she partied on a girls night out.

Chloe and James are currently the subject of their ITVBe reality series, Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair, which offers an insight into their personal lives. During one episode, a furious Chloe complained about James sharing snaps of himself with bikini-clad women. He documented his work trip to Ibiza on social media alongside a lot of the photos and clips showing scantily-clad women in them.
James' wife, who was at home in the UK with their one-year-old daughter Bodhi, said she was ready to 'kill' him when she saw the posts. Appearing on her TV show, she said: "He's on Instagram uploading videos and photos of all these girls, and I was like, 'I will kill you. I will fly to Ibiza and kill you.' He posted videos of him with loads of girls in thongs because he thinks that it makes him look cool on social media.
"I'm like, 'you're a k*** and you make me look like a k***. Stop doing it'." But, it was all love for the two as she admitted: "But he loves it. Honestly, at least he's having fun. You know what I mean." Since retiring from rugby, James enjoyed many DJing gigs in Ibiza while Chloe stayed at home.
James revealed: "My wife thinks DJing in Ibiza is a holiday – it's work. We've had a few arguments about it. I mean she's very supportive but kind of extending your trip for a few extra days is probably taking the p**s a little bit." As rumours began to swirl, both Chloe and James remained tight lipped on the state of their relationship.
The rugby star was also pictured chatting with a mystery blonde lady earlier this month during a night out with friends at celebrity hotspot Chiltern Firehouse. Chloe was later spotted on a night out with her friends – minus her wedding ring – and in a later outing James had appeared to remove his also.
Chloe also shared a cryptic message alongside a photo of her daughter. She said: "I think about how lucky I am every day. Especially after the last few weeks. I'm sure I'm not alone in that. Count your blessings." While the personal trainer was also said to have been seeking support from her famous parents.
