We all know how stressful commuting can be, especially if you have annoying people on your train who like to listen to their music too loudly or shout down the telephone.

But one commuter who took to social media to rant about a fellow passenger they encountered has found that not everyone feels the same way, as they were criticised for their explosive message.

The woman shared an angry post on Reddit after she witnessed a cyclist on a train with his feet on the seats in front of him, and his helmet and bag placed on a seat next to him instead of in the overhead storage. The commuter branded his behaviour as "disrespectful" - but not everyone online had her back.

In a post on Reddit shared back in 2019, she wrote: "It was just after rush hour. 1. Regardless of whether it is busy or not, get your filthy shoes off the seats. It's disrespectful to your fellow passengers. Nobody wants your shoe c**p over their clean clothes. 2. If you have too much stuff, use the overhead storage. That's what it's there for. The seats are for a***s."

We'll be the first to admit that putting your feet on seats on public transport isn't cool, especially as other people have to sit there and the bottoms of your shoes aren't exactly the cleanest part of your outfit. And to the credit of people online, most also agreed with the commuter on that front too.

However, many disagreed with her point about the overhead storage. By her own admission, the passenger was on the train "just after rush hour" and the carriage wasn't that busy, so many said he wasn't hurting anyone by keeping his belongings next to him where he could see them.

"Sounds like you're the poor little lamb who is too afraid to ask someone to move,' commented one, while another critic wrote: "If there is no demand for those seats then what's the problem with that? It would be a different story if there were people who needed a seat?"

Perhaps the most valid response read: "Why are you posting this? If the train is full and you politely asked him to move I would bet money that they would move."
