Rather than developing a plastic surgery habit, why not wear a nun’s one?

A habit is certainly cheaper than cosmetic work. Jenny Agutter says her role as Sister Julienne in Call the Midwife means she has been able to avoid going under the knife as she ages, because she can “tuck her face” into her habit on telly.

The 70-year-old actress, who is currently starring in the 12th series of the BBC drama, says: “Sometimes I look in the mirror and go, ‘Oh my God no.

“Sometimes I look at my chin, and think, ‘I could take a tiny little tuck there’, then I put my collar up or a scarf round me.

“A friend said to me recently, ‘You’ve got a great job at your age, playing a nun and wearing that habit’. It’s true – I can just tuck my face into it.”

She says when considering surgery there are “too many clauses on the forms about damage you can do”.

Jenny was in her 20s when agents first suggested she went under the knife.

She tells Good Housekeeping magazine: “My eyes would get puffy due to water retention and they said, ‘You need to get rid of that’. Fortunately I didn’t do it. As an actor, you want to be able to use your face, not have it immobile.”

Never mind who’s playing at Glastonbury this summer, Mighty Hoopla has a UK festival debut from one of our top stars – Gemma Collins.

“Move over Beyonce, GC’s in town,” she says, typically immodestly.

Brilliantly, not only is it Gemma’s first time performing at a festival, it will be the first one she’s ever even attended.

She says: “This is going to be so special for me because I’ve never been to a festival before.

“So this is going to be my first experience at a festival, so the gloves are off, the sequins are on, and I’m going to have some mighty fun.”

See Gemma, alongside Kelly Rowland and Years & Years, at Brockwell Park, London, on June 4.

Rita Ora sticks up for Celine Dion

Debate has been raging online after music magazine Rolling Stone compiled a list of the top 200 singers of all time, and snubbed Celine Dion.

Fans decried the Canadian singer’s omission to be “a crime against humanity”, and Rita Ora isn’t taking things lying down.

“Celine Dion is one of the greatest singers of all time,” she said, while standing up, adding to her social media post: “And here’s me in a bikini.”

That settles it.

Aretha Franklin topped the list, with Whitney Houston second and Sam Cooke third. Rita was snubbed, too.

The February 2023 issue of Good Housekeeping is now on sale.
