Love Island star Jack Fincham was handed a 36-month driving ban after he hit a traffic island with his BMW while under the influence of cocaine.

The TV personality, who is best known for winning the ITV2 show in 2018 with ex-girlfriend Dani Dyer, was first spotted by a woman as he drove on the wrong side of the road before smashing his car into the traffic island. He was speeding in Old Bexley Lane in Bexley, Kent.

She followed him for a distance and called the police after noticing how he was driving on the dark street. When police approached him, he admitted to taking class A drug cocaine two nights previously. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

After providing a sample while in custody, he was found to be over the limit for cocaine and benzoylecgonine, a cocaine by-product. Fincham, 31, was charged with two counts of drug driving and appeared at a Magistrates court in Medway on Wednesday and admitted to both offences.

The reality star was handed a 36-month driving ban and was ordered to complete 60 hours of unpaid community work to be completed within 12 months. The work will be supervised by the responsible officer.

The Magistrates learned that he had 18 microgrammes of cocaine per litre of blood in his system and 800 microgrammes of benzoylecgonine per litre of blood in his system. The legal limits are 10 and 50. Defending Fincham was Roger Haw, who said the incident happened late at night when there were no cars on the road.

He also said Fincham was trying to turn on his sat nav. As reported by Kent Online, Mr Haw explained: “He admitted he was driving and accepts he took cocaine at least a day before. He was honest. He is an actor who had a difficult time in 2021 during the pandemic as work dried up and he now has anxiety and depression. He has now taken up boxing and it’s been a success. He has a fight coming up soon. He lives with his parents and is being supported by them.”

The court heard Fincham was handed a previous ban on drink-driving, which happened within the last 10 years. Because of that, they had to give him at least a three-year disqualification as it was his second conviction within that time.
