Strictly fans vow to 'switch off' after 'inappropriate' moment seen by millions

Strictly Come Dancing fans were quick to voice their complaints just minutes into Sunday's results show.

Viewers weren't too happy after spotting an 'inappropriate' moment between professional dancers Karen Hauer and Carlos Gu. The show, hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, went on as usual despite the absence of Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice, with two couples finding themselves in the dance-off.

During the opening number performed by the professional dancers, viewers noticed a moment that some thought looked a bit rude. Karen was seen bending over with her bum in the air, while Carlos grabbed her waist and put his face behind her bum. Fans took to social media to question the performance.

One viewer posted an image of the moment and commented: "Bit early for that kind of thing", suggesting the choreographed move looked suggestive. Other viewers felt the dance didn't meet the pros' usual standards, comparing it to previous performances like the Barbie opening number with Dianne Buswell for movie week, or the same-sex dance between Nikita Kuzmin and Vito Coppola the week before.

One disappointed viewer tweeted: "This is quite poor for the pros... #StrictlyComeDancing", while another fan commented: "There's just something about this group dance that just isn't for me." One fan of the dance competition added: "Genuinely not sure if I like this pro dance."

"Me watching that bizarre opening dance," one user said. Other viewers claimed they 'got' the dance and said it was a tribute to Bob Fosse, who choreographed a series of musicals including Chicago and All That Jazz. "Ohh #StrictlyComeDancing results opening to a Bob Fosse tribute love his work #strictly ever seen Sweet Charity?," one viewer said.

Unfortunately, Karen Hauer was dragged into the spotlight again moments later as she was told she and celebrity partner Eddie Kadi would be in the bottom two dance-offs for the second week running, facing off against Zara McDermott. Eddie and Karen were the latest stars to get the axe.

Fans were convinced that the latest elimination was a sign of what was to come and that the next couple to leave the series has already been sealed. After low scores and another stint in the dance-off, viewers were sure it would be Zara and Graziano whom judges would be sending home next week.

Taking to social media, fans predicted the next elimination would see Zara voted off in the dance-off after her recent scores and comments from the judges, this being her second time in the bottom two. One fan posted: "I think zara next week."

Strictly Come Dancing returns with It Takes Two on Monday, October 23 at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
