We're now well into autumn, and for foodies, this can only mean sampling all the comforting flavours of the season. This of course includes the iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte, which, as all autumn lovers know, is best paired with a walk in a leaf-strewn park and your cosiest knitwear.

Luckily, for those counting the calories, there's no need to give up this warm, deliciously scented beverage this October, with a few clever swaps cutting out a full 300 calories. This is according to fitness guru Courtney Black, who shocked many Instagram followers after reminding them that there are 390 calories in a standard Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.

There is no need to fret, however, with Courtney's adjusted version adding up to a much less heavy 90 calories - and it's much easier to order than you might think.

Taking to Instagram, Courtney demonstrated how she orders her Pumpkin Spice Latte, made up of half hot water and half either almond or coconut milk. She also urged followers to ask for just one squirt of syrup, requesting sugar-free syrup if possible, and to forgo the whipped cream.

According to the 27-year-old health guru, this adapted drink tastes just as good as the original, while allowing for much greater flexibility with your food intake for the rest of the day. In the caption of her post, Courtney wrote: "DON'T LET THIS RUIN YOUR FAT LOSS GOALS! Do you order a latte every morning and not even count the calories but are trying to stay in a calorie deficit?

"A pumpkin spice latte is 390 calories… this is 2700 calories per week on top of your daily intake… this could take you from calorie deficit to maintenance calories or even surplus. A normal latte is around 180 calories. If you are having two of these a day it all adds up.
But who doesn't like a latte? And if I'm being honest you won't catch me drinking black coffee! Coffee for me is a joy, a ritual and I like mine milky!! This hack has completely changed my life and have been telling all my clients about it for years. The same amazing taste but just easier to fit into your goals!"

A number of coffee fans were keen to give the hack a go for themselves, relieved that they didn't have to give up such a well-loved seasonal indulgence after all. One approving person commented: "The timing of your posts are impeccable! Not me, in the Starbucks drive-thru RIGHT NOW, about to order something detrimental to my calorie goals. Order changed, message received." Another applauded: "Will have to remember this when the egg nog latte comes out."
