For months on end, fans have been counting down the days until the release of Coleen Rooney 's Disney+ documentary on her Wagatha Christie case against Rebekah Vardy.

On Wednesday, the three-part series finally dropped on the streaming platform, and as eager viewers tuned in to finally get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into Coleen's perspective on the trial - after she put on a brave face for so long - they took to social media to share their reactions.

The new Disney+ series focuses on the legal case which was ignited in October 2019 when 37-year-old Coleen took to social media to sensationally accuse fellow WAG Rebekah, 41, of selling stories about her personal life to The Sun. She made the accusation revealing she had planted fake stories on her own social media channels, but limited who could see the false information, and then was surprised when the fake news made its way into the tabloids.

Rebekah furiously denied she had been leaking the information and sued Coleen for libel - with the case resulting in a high-profile high court trial which ended in July last year. Since the judge ruled in favour of Coleen, numerous stage and screen adaptations of the case have been produced.

Coleen Rooney : The Real Wagatha is told through Coleen's recollections and included interviews with her family, legal team and key players involved. For the first time ever, curious fans see Coleen break her strong demeanor and break down in tears as she says she 'lost herself' throughout the case after becoming infuriated by Rebekah selling her stories.

The nail-biting series depicts how Coleen turned into an amateur online sleuth to find an explanation for why private stories concerning herself and her family continued to appear in the media, and it examines the circumstances that led to her infamous Instagram post that ‘broke the internet’ all the way to Coleen successfully defending herself in one of the UK’s highest-profile High Court defamation cases of recent years.

After tuning into the new three-part series, and finally discovering the depth of detail Coleen went to in a bid to prove that Rebekah was the one selling stories about her life to the press, viewers flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to insist that Coleen should think about changing her career and work for the M16 instead after showcasing her detective skills.

Elsewhere, dozens of viewers slammed Rebekah as they claimed she was 'conniving', and others insisted there was 'no way in hell' she wasn't behind the scandal.

One viewer quipped: "All the tea Coleen Rooney has is incredible. She should run the f***ing MI6." While another echoed: "Forget Inspector Morse, Coleen Rooney is the new detective in town."

"Not gonna lie it's kind of crazy what Coleen did - going to all that effort but she proved her point in the end I guess," someone else shared, while another Disney+ fan called out Rebekah. "Vardy was so wrong for this!!! She didn't have a leg to stand on."

"Coleen Rooney is an absolute gangster," one fan joked on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Don’t care what anyone says…,. don’t mess with a Scouse woman. Make sure u can cover ur lies… coz if u mess with the best the best don't mess. COLEEN ROONEY! smelt a rat an found who it was," another supporter tweeted.

"I don't understand why VARDY was the one sue when she was so clearly the one who did it. LOOOOL," chimed in another viewer. While someone else agreed: "Imagine being called out to the world like that. She had to try and defend it as best she could and sueing was the way to do. Didn't work out for her though ha."

Coleen is set to earn more money than her football manager husband Wayne after signing the multi-million pound deal with Disney+. However, it hasn't been all plain sailing for her, with insiders claiming the star ran the risk of being forced to change the working title of the new three-parter after Rebekah trademarked the iconic 'Wagatha Christie' phrase earlier this year.

Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story is available to stream now Disney Plus.
