England will qualify for Euro 2024 if they avoid defeat to Italy on Tuesday night.

It's the first meeting between the two teams at Wembley since the Italians won the Euro 2020 final on penalties in July 2021, dashing England's dream of a first major international trophy since 1966. Gareth Southgate's side would love to go one step further at next summer's Euros - but they need to qualify for the tournament in Germany first.

Although the Euro 2020 final took place just 27 months ago, England and Italy have already faced each other three times since. The first meeting resulted in a goalless draw before wins for either side, making it difficult to predict Tuesday night's encounter.

Stay tuned to find out what happens at Wembley...

Good night!

It was inevitable England would reach Euro 2024 before they kicked a ball tonight, but Gareth Southgate's men did it in style.

1-0 down early on to Gianluca Scamacca's early goal, the response was emphatic. Jude Bellingham won the penalty that Harry Kane dispatched, and in the second half the Real Madrid man was the catalyst again to set up Marcus Rashford.

Kane then sealed the win with a superb run and finish, making it 61 international goals.

England are in the Euros. But expectations for this group go way beyond just being there.

How Group C stands

Bellingham enjoying "freedom" for club and country

Jude Bellingham has been asked about his England role: "I'm just loving my football at the moment to be honest. Every time I'm on the pitch I'm just enjoying myself and I'm feeling really free," he said.

"The management at my club and my country are giving me the freedom to just play how I see it really. I know that defensively I have to keep my discipline but offensively I know I can help all over the pitch and I'm just loving my football."

On life at Real Madrid: "I'm loving it there. Carlo has fitted me into our team. When you're around those mentalities and players of that quality every day, you see them in the gym, you see how they prepare for games, the analysis, the physio work, and how the competetive some of the training sessions are - it all takes you to a new level."

Phillips backs midfield partner Bellingham

More reaction, this time from Kalvin Phillips.

"We've had a really good week all together," he told Channel 4. "We've worked really hard and the result epitomises what we're all about.

"With this England team we're always going to start well because we've got such good players on the pitch. But when we get a setback, we've got driving forces like Jude, Harry - and the trickiness of Phil and Marcus. We were always going to come back and create chances.

"I'm scratching my head at Jude. How's he getting better and better?"

Southgate lauds Henderson 'experience'

Southgate has also been asked on the reception for Jordan Henderson: "They were drowned out (those who booed). I think people realise his importance for us. To have a player of his experience, I mean I think Kalvin was on a yellow card and quite possibly could have a had a red so we needed to get him off.

"To have someone like Hendo to come into that and calm things and be that experienced voice..."

Southgate also said England wanted to win their remaining games to be seeded high for Euro 2024

Southgate praises "relentless" display

Gareth Southgate has spoken to the media following the win: "They're incredible to work with I have to say (England players). So hungry, so eager to learn, and so together. And you saw that in the performance tonight.

"We talked before the game about the mentality in these big matches. Maybe you've got to come through setbacks but whatever, you've got to be relentles and I thought the performance was relentless tonight."

France 4-1 Scotland

Scotland will join England in Euro 2024, but are heading towards a third straight defeat in France tonight.

Just five minutes left in Lille.

England confirmed as group winners

England still have to host Malta next month before going to North Macedonia. But regardless, they will finish top of Group C.

A chance for Gareth Southgate to experiment?

Kane on 'fortress' Wembley

Harry Kane has told Channel 4: "We've had a really tough group this time.

"But credit to the boys.S ome of the results and performances - well we topped it off here today. We stayed calm, we stayed organised, and we knew we had enough to get the win and we done it."

Kane has now broken Bobby Charlton's record for England goals at Wembley, and asked if he enjoyed the venue, he replied: "I do, it's out home. We've made it a fortress, we're getting full houses and the fans are loving it. To qualify with two games to go is a credit to everyone involved."

England players salute fans

'Sweet Caroline', that now customary sporting anthem, is being played out over the tannoy.

Incidentally, Mykhailo Mudryk has put Ukraine 3-1 up in Malta. England won't care, but Italy's hopes are now hanging by a thread.

Euro 2024 draw

The Euro 2024 final draw will take place on Saturday, December 2 at 5pm GMT. This is almost six months since the start of the tournament on June 14.

FULL TIME! England 3-1 Italy 1 - England qualify for Euro 2024

And to think England trailed.

A commanding win from Gareth Southgate's men who will be amongst the favourites in Euro 2024. Two more international goals for Harry Kane, and another talismanic display from Jude Bellingham.

And above it all, an eighth major tournament in a row for the Three Lions.

England 3-1 Italy

Moise Kean curls a shot straight at Pickford as the fourth official indicates three minutes of injury time.

England 3-1 Italy

'Que sera sera, whatever will be, will be, we're going to Germany' is ringing out from the stands.

Giacomo Raspadori on for Italy. England fans have barely noticed.

England 3-1 Italy

Bellingham off to a standing ovation. Won't be the last he receives in an England shirt.

Just the ?100million man Jack Grealish coming on instead then.

England 3-1 Italy

This moment had Gareth Southgate punching the air.

England 3-1 Italy

The fans are enjoying themselves now. Barring a miracle, Euro 2024 qualification will be sealed in just over 10 minutes.

After going behind, a thoroughly professional job from the Three Lions.

GOAL! England 3-1 Italy

Vintage Harry Kane!

That is sublime. Marc Guehi clears to half-way, Kane holds off Bastoni, then beats Scalvini and goes through on goal - before whipping a clinical finish past Donnarumma.

What. A. Striker.

England 2-1 Italy

Jordan Henderson is coming on to replace Phillips.

A sensible substitution given Phillips seemed hell bent on getting himself off anyway.

And for his replacement, this time the cheers are louder than the jeers for the ex-Liverpool man as he enters the field.

England 2-1 Italy

Kalvin Phillips is a lucky man.

On a yellow, he takes out Frattesi. Just a free kick given though.

England then break and Foden tests Donnarumma with a left foot snap shot.

England 2-1 Italy

England goal No.17 for Marcus Rashford!

England 2-1 Italy

Changes for both sides.

John Stones, after his first start of the season, lasts 62 minutes and is replaced by Marc Guehi.

For Italy, Alessandro Bastoni, Moise Kean (remember him Everton fans?) and Federico Dimarco are all on.

England 2-1 Italy

A reminder to England this isn't done yet as Scamacca stings the palms of Pickford from 15 yards.

Straight at the Everton man though.

England 2-1 Italy

Bellingham in the thick of it again as he's shoved off the ball by Cristante.

No way to treat a future Ballon D'Or winner.....

GOAL! England 2-1 Italy

Marcus Rashford!

Now the second half has got going. Bellingham surges forward, plays in Rashford, who cuts in from the left and simply buries his shot into the bottom right hand corner.

England are on the brink!

England 1-1 Italy

Kane is dispossessed on the edge of the area as another England attack breaks down.

The second half hasn't really got going. And to sum it up, Berardi lines one up from 25 yards and narrowly misses row Z.

England 1-1 Italy

Udogie is having an eventful debut.

He's on a yellow card and clearly trips Foden. To his relief, referee Clement Turpin gives nothing more than a free kick.

England 1-1 Italy

Close! Rashford hurries the Italian defence into a mistake and the ball falls to Phillips 20 yards out.

His first time shot is well struck but narrowly over.

Italy yet to get going this far in the second half.

England 1-1 Italy

England spring back into life as Kane drops deep and threads a pass to Foden. He goes down in the area after running into Udogie but nothing doing. And rightly so.
