The hotly-anticipated documentary recalling the High Court battle between Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy is almost here. Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story will explore the high-profile defamation case that dominated headlines in 2022, with exclusive interviews with Rooney and her family.

What became known as the ‘Wagatha Christie’ case first unfolded in 2019, when Rooney accused Vardy of leaking information about her private life to the press. After publishing fake stories to her Instagram account, Rooney made an explosive claim in a now-infamous social media post.

In a post shared on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, Rooney said: “I have saved and screenshotted all the original stories which clearly show just one person has viewed them. It’s… Rebekah Vardy’s account.”

Vardy denied the claims, and went on to sue her fellow WAG for libel. After an intensely publicised trial, the judge ruled in Rooney’s favour and dismissed the claim against her, saying it was “likely” that Vardy’s agent at the time “undertook the direct act” of passing the information to The Sun.

Disney+ announced it was producing a documentary less than a month later. Over three episodes, The Real Wagatha Story will explore the jaw-dropping court case, told through exclusive access to Rooney, her family, legal team and key players involved in the trial.

Uncovering one of the biggest tabloid news stories in Britain for the last decade, it reveals how Coleen turned amateur online sleuth to determine the source of the leak. It examines the circumstances that led to her post that ‘broke the internet’ all the way to Coleen successfully defending herself in one of the UK’s highest-profile High Court defamation cases in recent years.

As well as the case itself, it will explore how Coleen has had her life played out in public for the last 20 years as one of Britain’s most famous celebrities and wife of former England footballer Wayne Rooney.

Here’s how to watch Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story and when it is released.

How to watch Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story

Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story is launching exclusively on Disney+ in the UK. Fans can view it with a subscription to the platform, while new members still have time to sign up and avoid Disney’s upcoming price increase.

From November 1, a subscription to Disney+ could see members paying an extra £36 a year. That is because the platform is revamping its pricing, meaning existing customers will be automatically upgraded to its new Premium plan unless they change their subscription.

This means that, for new members, October is the last chance to sign up and benefit from the current pricing before the increase on November 1. Subscribing to an annual membership to Disney+ by October 31 gives new members 12 months access for less than the cost of eight months on the new Premium plan.

When is Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story released?

Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story premieres with a three-episode launch on Disney+ on Wednesday, October 18. Viewers hoping to catch all episodes of the docuseries can sign up now for an annual membership and benefit from the platform’s current pricing before the increase kicks in on November 1.
