When is Roblox coming to PlayStation – Here's when you can start playing

Roblox is finally arriving on PlayStation this week, but when exactly can you start playing the massive online game?

Update: Sony has confirmed that Roblox will launch on PlayStation at 6pm BST / 1pm EDT / 10am PDT.

Original story: Roblox first launched on PC way back in 2006. Since then it's grown to become one of the biggest games of all time, boasting 164 million monthly active users back in 2020. The game launched onto Xbox One back in 2015, but has never made its way over to PlayStation platforms. Now, 17 years after the game first launched, it's finally available for PS4 (and PS5 via backwards compatibility) later this week after being announced last month.

Roblox is is an online multiplayer game that doubles as an MMO and game creation platform. Users are able to create their own items, skins and games for other users to buy or play. Some fan-made games in Roblox are recreations of other games like Counter Strike and Among Us. Meanwhile, some companies have taken to Roblox to promote other games, like SEGA, who licensed Sonic the Hedgehog to appear in the Roblox game Sonic Speed Simulator from Gamefam who develop games in Roblox.

The closest game to compare Roblox to is actually Fortnite, which is seemingly taking a page from Roblox's book with the UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite) and plans to use Fortnite as a platform for users to develop games on. Much like Fortnite, Roblox has hosted events and concerts within the game.

When is Roblox coming to PlayStation?

It was confirmed by Roblox's senior director Thai Bui last month that Robloxwill release on PlayStation on Tuesday, October 10. According to the countdown timer on the PlayStation Store page, Roblox is coming to PlayStation today at 6pm BST / 1pm EDT / 10am PDT. The game will be available to download on the PlayStation store on both PS4 and PS5 at this time.

Roblox currently doesn't have a pre-load available and no official filesize has been given. However, the only other console release of the game – the Xbox version – comes in at 364.18 MB, so it shouldn't take too long to download the game once it finally launches.
