Kate Ferdinand shared an emotional video of her newborn baby daughter Shae's health scare.

The model, 32, welcomed her second child with footballer Rio Ferdinand, 44, on July 10 and shared the exciting news with social media fans at the end of July. The star shares Cree with Rio and is also stepmother to his three children, 16-year-old Lorenz, 14-year-old Tate and 11-year-old Tia.

Kate made a return to social media on September 18 to reveal her baby was born with congenital pneumonia. And now, the star shared a video that documented the terrifying moments after giving birth and learning of Shae's health. In the video, Kate was seen tearing up as she cradled her daughter in the hospital bed.

The former The Only Way Is Essex star revealed her daughter had to be sent to the special care unit hours later as she wasn't 'getting the right amount of oxygen.'

"I could just tell they thought there was something wrong. She's not taking in the right amount of oxygen so she's gone to the special care unit," Kate said from her hospital bed. Rio went on to explain how they spent the first night after the birth without their baby with them.

"You don't ever think about the negatives, you don't think about what can go wrong, you don't ever come into a hospital thinking that your first night is gonna be your baby alone, on another ward," he explained. Their children kept asking for pictures of the newborn but Rio wanted to avoid sending snaps of Shae covered in wires.

"The kids are saying 'Where's the pictures? send pictures'. They're all excited, but I don't want to send the first picture of the baby with all the wires," the footballer said. An emotional Kate continued: "I'm being really strong, but if I talk about it I will cry because I just want her here now."

Thankfully, Shae recovered quite quickly. Last month, Kate took to social media to give fans an update on the newborn. Kate wrote: "10 weeks of Shae. 10 weeks of being in our little getting to know my gorgeous little girl & adapting to life with 5 kids .. Thank you for all checking in on me … we are both well, although she made quite the entrance into this world & gave us a fright being born with congenital pneumonia, thankfully she recovered quickly but those first few days without my baby have really made me want to soak up every moment with her.

"I’m completely obsessed. So many ups and downs but I’m trying to get used to our new way of life & into a little routine (kinda). We did actually record some of our hospital stay but I’ve been a little anxious to share it as emotions are high. Maybe I’ll pluck up the courage soon.

"I hope you’re all well & thanks for bearing with me," she said, before referring to a photo of herself holding Cree as he wrapped his arms around her neck. "Picture 4 - after nearly 6 weeks of not being able to pick up my Creecree, (he weighs 20kg)I was just so sad, this was at 8 weeks and the best cuddle ever."
