Celebrities including Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid have been warned not to bring bed bugs home from Paris Fashion Week.

The French capital is in the midst of a horrifying outbreak of bed bugs, with authorities warning “ no one is safe” as the bed bugs spread across the city, infesting the Paris Metro system, and Airbnb rentals. Hotels have been on high alert as the fashion elite descended on Paris for Fashion Week, with big names including Anna Wintour, Florence Pugh, Cher, Victoria Beckham and Naomi Campbell attending the annual event.

But famous faces have been warned they risk helping the bedbugs spread across the world if they don’t take extra precautions amid the unsettling epidemic, which has horrified millions of TikTok users who have been uploading videos of the blood-sucking creatures swarming in beds, mattresses, carpets and upholstery.

“You have to understand that in reality no one is safe, obviously there are risk factors but in reality, you can catch bedbugs anywhere and bring them home,” deputy mayor of Paris Emmanuel Gregoire said, as he called the infestation “widespread.”

Entomologist Dr. Jim Fredericks from the National Pest Management Association told TMZ that bed bugs are “capable hitchhikers”, and can attach themselves to clothes, bedding and dirty luggage. He asked celebs to thoroughly inspect their clothes and luggage, and be on the lookout for exoskeletons or fecal spots, which are a good indication of bed bugs. He suggested people store their luggage outside their bedrooms while staying in hotels, as this would dramatically reduce the risk of the pests, who have a lifespan of 4 to 6 months, attaching themselves to any items that will be flown back home.

Dr. Jim Fredericks also advised the A-listers travelling home from Paris to wash their clothes thoroughly, and dry them on a high heat setting to kill any of the remaining critters. He also urged celebs to take their designer garments to the dry cleaners, to completely eradicate the blood-sucking bugs, which can survive for a year without food.

Many famous faces were spotted attending the exclusive Paris Fashion Week, including Victoria Beckham, who unveiled Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner and Eva Longoria as some of her muses. Gigi Hadid made her PFW debut walking for Chanel and Miu Miu, while stars such as Penelope Cruz, Riley Keough, Camila Morrone and Brie Larson were seen sat on the fashion front row.
