Great British Bake Off hopefuls faced an illusion biscuit display challenge for this week's showstopper. One baker sadly had to get the chop, leaving the popular competition programme after Tuesday night's episode on Channel 4.

Tasha was crowned this week's star baker after a tricky technical, while Keith sadly landed in the bottom. "I've had the most fantastic time," he said. "I don't know how many hours I'm going to spend going on about this."

The 60-year-old learned to bake with his mum as a child and "loves the challenge of taking on more complex bakes". He leaves the show as the second to depart the famous tent.

The tricky showstopper followed an equally troubling technical challenge as the 11 show stars battled it out to craft a perfectly baked custard cream. Keith ranked in 11th place, behind Saku and Christy. While Abbi scooped the top spot.

It comes after last week's first episode exit was branded a "scandal". Amos, the 43-year-old deli manager from North London, left the show after his Show Stopper fell flat. The judges said his cake was just too "dense" as he was sent packing but after getting high praise earlier in the show, some fans were left stumped.

The hopeful couldn't hold back the tears after being the first to be booted off as Noel Fielding said his name, he noted "it's fine" before adding: "It was obviously the Show Stopper, it stopped my show....", Amos broke off as he started to cry.

As he wiped away the tears, he rediscovered his composure to say: "It's been amazing, just to walk into that tent. It's softening the blow a little bit." But the decision wasn't greeted with approval on social media and viewers rushed to X, formally Twitter.

One fumed: "Absolute scandal on the bake off, not Amos. #GBBO", and a second wasn't happy either, writing: "Not sure how Amos got sent home when he came second in technical, and people who came bottom didn’t do great in the showstopper either #GBBO."

Another said: "Amos? Really? 2nd in Technical??!! Bad choice lads #GBBO, and a fourth viewer grumbled: "I know his showstopper was pretty horrifc, but Amos got 2nd in the technical and his first bake wasn’t utterly horrific - thought Dana was consistently worse, Nicky not much better #GBBO."
