Cara Delevingne fan have rushed to inform her that her latest dramatic body art includes an awkward spelling error after she unveiled the new ink with a topless picture.

The British supermodel posed topless to show off the new piece of body art but, the letters below the inking left fans suggesting her tattoo artist had made a mistake. The ink of a woman's face on her arm is placed above the word "Dormiveglia", which is an Italian word meaning a "semi-conscious state".

Tattooed alongside the word is the dictionary definition but tattoo artist Matteo Nangeroni has replaced the word "waking" with the word "walking". It reads: "Dormiveglia: The space that stretches between sleeping and walking."

When the tattoo artist posted the picture of a topless Cara showing off her new inking, his Instagram followers were quick to point out the mistake. "Noo… you spelled it wrong, it’s supposed to be ‘waking’ not ‘walking," one argued, while another wrote: "Walking or waking? Beautiful tattoo though."

"Maybe we chose that?" Matteo replied implying it was his and Cara's vision to alter the definition. The model also stepped in to explain why she decided to pose for the photo topless.

"Just to be clear to everyone! I chose to take my bra off, the picture didn’t look good with my bra on," Cara wrote in a comment. "I am a perfectionist especially when it comes to photography and I was trying to help make something beautiful. Everyone calm down please. Thank you x."

The tattoo artist later wrote: "Why “Naked”? Why walking instead of waking? Maybe because everyone has her/his own vision."

Cara recently admitted she wanted to have some of her tattoos removed. She told Vogue magazine that saying goodbye to some of her inkings was on her "to do list" as she wanted to embrace "new beginnings".

Meanwhile, the model opened up about her struggle with alcohol and credits feeling "stable and calmer" to going teetotal. She told Elle Magazine: "It’s been worth every second. I just don’t know what it would take for me to give it up. I am stable. I’m calmer. Before, I didn’t trust myself. I second-guessed myself constantly. There was a lot of anxiety involved. Now I just feel free of that."
