Sofyan Amrabat says Manchester United must do their talking on the pitch and prove they have turned a corner.

After three successive defeats, United have eased the pressure on boss Erik ten Hag with back-to-back victories for the first time this season. Tuesday's 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Crystal Palace saw injury-hit United back to their best, with loan signing Amrababt making his full debut.

United have been beset by injuries, but Morocco World Cup star Amrabat said now is the time to show their class and go on a sustained winning run. “I have a lot of confidence because I see that we have so much quality,” said Amrabat. “I think we were a bit unlucky with the injuries we had.

“For every team it’s difficult if you have a lot of injuries. I see a lot of quality, we have a fantastic coach, fantastic fans, so I believe we can do something big. But in the end, you have to show it on the pitch, not with talking, not with speaking. You have to work for it and hopefully we can reach something very nice together.”

Midfielder Amrabat showed his versatility by filling in at left-back against Palace, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia still sidelined. Ten Hag, who managed Amrabat at Dutch side Utrecht, said the midfielder's versatility and willingness to play wherever required, is one of his greatest qualities.

“When I make a step on the pitch, for me it’s normal that you give everything, that you fight for every metre and give your all for the team,” said Amrabat. "Of course you can make technical mistakes, everyone can have a bad game, but the most important is you fight for the badge, for the club - that’s the minimum you can do. That’s normal and that’s what I always try to do.

“The manager knows me very well, a long time. Maybe six or seven years ago, we worked together, so it’s a long time, but he knows me, I know him, I know what he wants and I try to do that.”

Reflecting on his deadline day loan move from Fiorentina, Amrabat admitted it was a tense summer for him, with his heart set on joining United as soon as he learned of their interest. “After the last game with the club, the Europa Conference League final with West Ham, from that moment the window started for me,” said Amrabat.

“There were a lot of clubs, a lot of talking, but for me it was clear I wanted Manchester United. They were long, long months for me, very difficult months for me, but in the end it was nice on the last day that I signed here and the fact I’m here is now the most important thing. For me, today, I am a Manchester United player.

“The only thing I can do is give everything that I have, to do my best to try to help the team. I hope we have a fantastic season, I hope we can win something, and then later we will see what will happen. Of course, I would love to stay here, but that’s not important for me, I don’t look too far in the future.”
