Man shows graphic images of severed leg in jar after surgeries failed to save it
A man forced to amputate his leg after several botched surgeries failed to save it, decided to post uncensored photos of it to Reddit - perhaps the only online platform with a viable amputee community page.
Reddit user Orukusaki shared photos of his amputated leg to a community named "r/amputee," where users who had amputation surgeries share stories, opinions and personal anecdotes. Orukusaki was in a serious accident in October 2022 that fatally damaged his ankle.
He told the community that after more than 12 surgeries, his ankle wouldn't heal. Therefore, he opted to have the limb amputated. A little over a week later on August 30, he posted a photo of his bandaged nub.

Honestly I'd probably post some of the pics on the gore page. But did anyone else do anything fun with their appendage?"
The photo depicts his severed limb in a jar on a workbench seemingly in a garage. The limb, which has a dark yellow hue to it, has a small piece of bone marrow sticking out the top.

The amputee community was seemingly envious that Orukusaki was permitted to keep his limb while they were told it wasn't allowed. The Reddit user said he had pulled the religion card telling hospital staff that he wished to be "buried whole."

Instead, they engaged in a conversation centered around what they would do with their amputated limb. One user wrote: "They told me I couldn't (keep the severed limb) because it's a biohazard. Never occurred to me to say I needed it for religious reasons. I'd probably just use resin to make a statue."
A user going by Lexisjoan said she jumped through multiple hoops to keep her husband's leg. Eventually hospital staff allowed it and the couple sent it to a museum for cleaning.
One of the most notable commenters was the infamous Reddit user "IncredibleShinyShart," who was featured in a news article in 2018 after he dined on a portion of his own amputated leg. Almost like an ordinary person meeting a celebrity, Orukusaki wrote "You're a legend! Honestly the hospital pulled up the same news article and that's how they knew it was doable."
Orukusaki wanted to imitate IncredibleShinyShart and make fajitas out of his severed limb but chose not to after his leg became infected.
