Strictly's Shirley Ballas snaps at troll who questions her cosmetic work
Strictly Come Dancing's head judge Shirley Ballas continued her stern words after the first live show of the series as she scolded one social media user for speculating about what cosmetic work she'd undergone.
Shirley, 63, was looking stunning on the panel on Saturday night dressed in a hot pink off the shoulder dress teamed with a pair of dazzling geometric earrings. After a liking a string of tweets praising her glamorous look, the no-nonsense judge took delight in ticking off one social media user who began to question if she'd undergone surgery to achieve her youthful glow.
The row kicked off when a user posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, accusing Shirley of unfairly marking down one of the female contestants.
"Shirley underscores a Woman, it begins ...." they posted to which another social media user replied: "Has Shirley had work done?"
A third person chimed in to the conversation:"A facelift I believe." Shutting down rumours immediately, Shirley reposted the commentary to her own page page directly aafter the show - along with some stern words.
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tour"Lol for your information No I have not. Hope that clears up your gossip. Always helps to get the facts," she replied before telling the user to "Enjoy this beautiful show."
Earlier in the week, Shirley had cleared up rumours about her youthful visage by revealing she'd undergone a non-surgical facelift to give her a boost ahead of series 21 of Strictly.
The star said she credits her look to NeoGen nitrogen plasma treatments. This non-invasive procedure uses super-heated nitrogen gas to boost collagen and elastin to rejuvenate the skin from within to achieve natural results.
She admitted she had been 'down on herself' prior to the procedure after noticing sunspots, wrinkles and claiming her jawline had 'started to sag.' "Contrary to what people think, I'm not the most confident person in the world," said Shirley. "Just over a year ago, I was actually getting quite down on myself because of the appearance of my face, I'm being really serious.
"My chin and jawline were sagging, my skin was dull, I had a lot of pigmentation with sun-spots and I had little spider veins on my nose. My face just didn't sparkle and it really dented my confidence. I wanted to keep up the treatments because I just don't want my skin to fade, I want it to be glowing and bright and so I've kept having treatments about every six weeks and I'm absolutely delighted with the results."
She aded: "Recently I have had so many comments from friends, colleagues and family saying my skin is looking amazing, and that has been a massive boost. I've just turned 63, and I'm really, really happy at how my skin is looking.'
It's been a tough week for head judge Shirley, who fell ill earlier this week, and there were fears she could miss the first live show.
Updating her fans on social media, she said at the time: "What a difference a day makes. So back from Rome where it was busy, lots of people and then in the studio because we are running up to the Royal Albert Hall international championships. And yes I think I have caught something. So not very well today, not in work. Want to rest and make sure I’m ready for Strictly on Saturday."
Meanwhile, Anton du Beke hailed the return of Strictly as a "magical time".
"I tell you what, I am naturally, brilliantly excited about the whole thing, I can't wait. For me it's just a magical time of year when Strictly returns to our screens. It always starts in the summer and goes into the autumn and winter. It's just brilliant. The excitement about Strictly Come Dancing coming back with all the celebrities and just being in the building with everybody milling around, delighted and happy and joyous and all the brilliant teams back together. It's so wonderfully exciting," he explained.
Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman 'sign deal' to host Strictly for two more yearsElsewhere, Craig Revel Horwood has admitted he thinks the line up this year is "phenomenal". He shared: "For the last 20 years, I have been coming home to Strictly and this is no different. I think even better because the line-up for this series is absolutely phenomenal."
Motsi Mabuse has urged this year's contestants to bring their personalities to the dancefloor. Discussing what she wants the new 15 contestants to do this year, she shared: "I'm particularly excited about all the stories we're going to hear, I believe in the power of personality, there are brand new celebrities so I just want to see their personalities on the floor."
