Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner's divorce has new developments

After filing for dissolution of their marriage, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner were ordered by the court to avoid "disparaging remarks about the other parent or quiz the children as to the other parent's private life".

The court order obtained by The Mirror states: "It is the children's right to be spared from experiencing and witnessing any animosity or ill-feeling, if any should occur, between the parents, and the minor children should be encouraged to maintain love, respect, and affection for both parents."

Additionally, the order states that "the relationship between the parents shall be courteous and respectful as possible, relatively formal, low-key, and public". Joe and Sophie are expect by the court to communicate with their children about the matter in a way that is appropriate for "their age and maturity".

According to a petition filed by Sophie, Joe filed the divorce paperwork on Sept. 1, but she was not made aware until Sept 5. through the media. Her petition asked the court to order Joe to return the children to her custody so they may return to their home in England.

The Florida order, where the dissolution paperwork was filed, does set a limitation on the children's relocation. It bars either parent from relocating the children after the divorce was initiated; the children have been touring with the Jonas Brothers up until recently. A statement from Joe's representative to The Mirror states: "The Florida Court has already entered an order that restricts both parents from relocating the children. Sophie was served with this order on September 6, 2023, more than two weeks ago."

Sophie claims in her New York petition that Joe is withholding the children's passports from her and that their true home and residence is in England. The statement from Joe's team said: "[Sophie] demanded via this filing that Joe hand over the children’s passports so that she could take them out of the country immediately. If he complies, Joe will be in violation of the Florida Court order."

The same Florida order also details requirements for both parents to attend a four hour parenting class. If they do not comply, they could face sanctions determined by the judge.
