Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness will reportedly navigate their separation "together," with it suggested that the former couple "are always going to be friends".

The actor, 54, and his estranged wife, 67, announced in a joint statement issued earlier this month that they had made the decision to separate. And it was revealed that the pair hope to "pursue [their own] individual growth".

It has now been reported that Hugh and Deborra-Lee are in regular contact and will "navigate" the situation together. The former couple - who have two children together - are said to be "doing okay" despite their separation.

A source told PageSix that Hugh has spoken to Deborra-Lee since their announcement, with them adding that the former couple have seen each other. The source further told the outlet that the pair "speak pretty regularly".

The source continued: "[They] are always going to be friends and navigate this together. You just can't be married for 27 years, share two kids and suddenly stop speaking." They added: "It's not always easy but they're doing okay."

Following the announcement last week, Hugh was spotted on a bike ride in New York City over the weekend. He didn't appeared to have been wearing his wedding ring, though it's unclear how much the actor wore the ring previously.

He was also seen in footage from the city recently, in which he was asked about the separation by a photographer. During the video, obtained by TMZ, Hugh stated that it's "a difficult time" as he walked past the photographer.

It has previously been suggested that Hugh's separation from his estranged wife Deborra-Lee had been "a long time coming". The former couple - who have been married since 1996 - are said to have morphed into "roommates".

The pair announced their separation in a joint statement last week, telling fans that they have been "blessed" to share almost three decades together as a married couple. They added that their family would remain their "highest priority".

The statement read: "We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth."

Hugh and Deborra-Lee continued in it: "Our family has been and always will be our highest priority." They further commented in the recent statement: "We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness."

Concluding the announcement, the pair noted that it would be a "transition" in their lives. They wrote: "We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives."
