Nineties singer Kavana has amazed fans by marking one year of sobriety following his battle with alcohol addiction.

The nineties pop star, 45, looks worlds away from how he did during the height of his addiction as he showcased his progress in an inspiring Twitter post on Sunday.

Kavana thanked his family and friends for their support as he looked back on how far he has come in recent years after kicking his addiction to the curb after a lot of hard work and sacrifices.

The singer - who's real name is Anthony Kavanagh - revealed that in the photo from last year, he was 'in a blackout' as sported long hair and an unshaven face.

The striking image is in stark contrast to how the singer looks one year on, as he posted another snap on the one-year anniversary of his sobriety.

The difference in his appearance is undeniable with Kavana beaming for the camera and looking happier and healthier than ever.

"Today I am 1 year sober. On the left, me arriving at rehab in a blackout. On the right, me today," Kavana penned alongside the snap.

"Thanks to those that have helped me get here a day at a time."

Back in 2021, the British singer announced that he had relapsed after 100 days off the booze.

At the time, the 45-year-old singer admitted he felt 'guilty and sick' over relapsing as he spoke candidly about his recovery.

In a devastating message, the popstar lamented he had let down the people he loved, but Kavana vowed to start over again with his recovery process as he put a positive spin on his relapse.

He wrote: "Ok. I think it's important for me to be transparent about my recovery. I relapsed after 100 days of sobriety. I feel guilty and sick and I hate myself after letting the people I love down.

"I thought I knew better. I have to start again."

Then, in February last year, Kavana took to Twitter to apologise to his family for not being 'truthful' as he admitted that alcoholism had 'got a grip on him' in an emotional post.

The singer spoke of his 'mental struggles', before signing off social media for an extended amount of time.

At the time, his statement read: "Today I go into rehab. Again. This illness of Alcoholism has got its grip. I'll be off social media for a while. To what family I have left, I'm sorry I wasn't truthful I've been going through a lot of mental struggles.

"Good news I'm going to get the help I need. My phone will be off for a while. Clint, Aunty Angela, Aunty Maria, Brad, I'm going to be OK and I love you all madly x."
