Amad Diallo expressed his support for Mason Greenwood during the Manchester United forward’s Getafe debut.

Greenwood was sent out on loan to the Spanish side on Deadline Day after the club decided to sever ties with him. Greenwood was previously at the centre of an internal investigation following his arrest.

The 21-year-old was arrested in October last year on suspicion of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Those charges were eventually dropped by the CPS in February. After joining Getafe before the international break, Greenwood was made to wait for his debut, which eventually came on Sunday in a LaLiga clash against Osasuna.

He was introduced as a substitute in the 77th minute of the tie. His introduction received a mixed reception from fans, but Red Devils forward Amad has offered his support.

Amad took to Instagram on Sunday with an image of him watching Greenwood in action, with two heart emojis accompanying the post. The striker had an immediate impact for his new club - his shot forcing a corner from which the Spanish side eventually scored and went on to win 3-2.

Greenwood will hope to have done enough to earn his first start for the club. Getafe are back in action next weekend as they travel to the Basque country to face Real Sociedad.

Speaking after joining Getafe just over a fortnight ago, Greenwood said: "I am very happy to be here. I have been training for four or five months, I am getting up to speed and have been training with my team-mates and feel quite good. We take it one game at a time and the next home game is coming in a few weeks and we will try to win and do our best."

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has yet to share his thoughts on Greenwood’s future with the Red Devils. He has two years left on his contract with the club.

Asked whether Greenwood had any long-term prospects with the club, Ten Hag remained tight-lipped. Speaking after it was announced the striker would be continuing his career away from Old Trafford, the Dutchman said: "I focus on the current squad and the players who are available.”

Meanwhile, England boss Gareth Southgate also recently broke his silence around Greenwood’s Three Lions future. He claimed that the striker was not under consideration whilst he was not playing football.
