A bomb threat at a Jewish synagogue in Brooklyn, New York, saw police swarm the area and order people to "shelter in place".

Emergency services gave the location as 8th Avenue and 10th Street in the borough of New York, understood to be in the Park Slope area. Police were responding to a possible bomb threat.

A large emergency services presence was seen at the scene, with fire crews and police squads. On X - formally known as Twitter - one person wrote: "Uhm, there is an active bomb threat on our block in Park Slope?! WTF. As I sadly predicted, the threat is on the nearby church that operates as a synagogue on Saturdays. So evil."

Another wrote: "Bomb threat at the synagogue down the street from us. Police told us to shelter in place. I’m sure it will all be ok, but what a way to start the year."

Julio Avila of News12BK tweeted: "NYPD and bomb squad on scene near a house of worship in Park Slope."
