Divorce is devastating, but comedian Alan Carr is approaching his with his trademark sense of humour.

But he won’t be regaling potential suitors with his wit on any dating apps after splitting from Paul Drayton.

“I am single,” he confirms, before joking: “People ask if I am doing the apps but I find it quite triggering.

“I used to work at a singles bar in Northampton and I was like the goat who gets lowered in that crate in Jurassic Park.”

Paul was convicted for drink driving and sentenced to 14 weeks in prison, and invited Alan to visit him behind bars.

“F*** that,” Alan laughs. “I’ve seen Silence of the Lambs.

“He moaned about what was wrong with his cell but do I look like TripAdvisor?”

Drayton was released on appeal after two nights in custody.

The couple have kept on good terms, Alan says of the pair’s break-up: “I don’t hate him. It takes up too much energy. We have all got to move on.”

The comic made the quips on stage on his Regional Trinket tour at London’s Palladium, where he joked Paul’s conviction gave him “street cred”.

The pair wed in 2018, with Adele officiating the ceremony – which made Alan fear paps would fly drones over her garden to get photos of her.

“I thought about renting out my bald spot for advertising space,” he laughs.
