*NSYNC has delighted fans by revealing that they are set to release their first new song in over two decades.

Better Place, the band's first single together since 2001, will be featured in the upcoming animated film Trolls Band Together, in which Justin Timberlake has lent his voice alongside Anna Kendrick and Camila Cabello. Fans can listen to the full song from 29 September before the film is released in UK cinemas on 20 October.

The tune is the best fit for the next instalment of the animated Trolls movie franchise as it centred around the Troll boyband BroZone reunited after years of estrangement. The release of the new tune came just a day after Justin reunited with former bandmates JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick on stage at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday.

And if the overwhelming reaction that *NSYNC had merely walking out on stage is any indicator, then the song Better Place will certainly go down a treat. While the iconic nineties boyband did not take to the stage to perform during the star-studded evening, they did present the Best Pop Video award to superstar Taylor Swift, who proved herself to be a mega fan of them.

As she got on stage, each of the band handed her a friendship bracelet, which just added to Taylor's happiness. She admitted she was struggling with the excitement, telling the group she had "had their dolls" when she was younger. "You're pop personified, so to receive this from your golden pop hands is really too much," she added.

Meanwhile, while they announced a new song together, fans were disappointed when they discovered that the five singers were not reuniting for a performance at the VMAs or to announce an official comeback.

To many viewers' dismay, the group did nothing but present the award to country-turned-pop icon Taylor and give her a heartfelt gift. MTV fans flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts on the on-stage reunion and their shock that the group didn't perform. "So I sat through 4 hrs of VMAs waiting for NSYNC to perform??" one person tweeted while another said: "They better announce something! STG".

The band, famous for their hits Bye, Bye, Bye, Tearin' Up My Heart and I Want You Back, split in 2004 when Justin reportedly wanted to focus on his solo career. The rest of the group carried on without him, but they split for good in 2007. All of the members except for Justin last performed together in 2019 with Ariana Grande at Coachella.
