The MTV Video Music Awards (VMA's) have officially released their highly-anticipated list of nominees for the 2023 award show

Taylor Swift leads the way for singers with the tremendous honour of being granted eight nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA's) as new highly anticipated nominees for 2023 were announced Tuesday.

MTV's prestigious VMAs celebrate artists who have transformed the music industry within the past year. The iconic top contenders to receive nominations for 2023 include BLACKPINK, Diddy, Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, Sam Smith, Shakira and SZA. This year also marks a record-setting amount of first-time nominees at a whopping 35 artists including GloRilla, Ice Spice, Kim Petras, Metro Boomin, Peso Pluma, PinkPantheress, Rema, Reneé Rapp, and more.

The Shake it Off singer received an incredible amount of nominations this year as Taylor has made an enormous impact on the music industry in 2023 including releasing her new sought-after album Midnights, producing re-recordings of her previous hit albums, and performing for sold-out shows during her dazzling Era's tour.

Last year was also a monumental success for the singer-songwriter as she became the only artist to win three times in the highly covered category "Video of the Year." This year, the famous 33-year-old is nominated again for the category for her music video “Anti-Hero” produced by Republic Records. But she has some steep competition ahead of her as she will be facing up against Miley Cyrus for "Flowers," Doja Cat for “Attention," Olivia Rodrigo for “vampire," Nicki Minaj for "Super Freaky Girl," along with many other unforgettable music videos.

In addition for her nomination for Video of the Year, Taylor has also been nominated for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop song, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, and Best Editing. But the talented singer has not caught up to the legendary Beyoncé yet. Queen Bey marks the top of the list for artists as she has had the most overall success at the VMA's winning a remarkable 25 awards. This year, Beyoncé will be making an appearance again as she has been nominated for Artist of the Year.

Starting today, fans have the chance to vote for their favourite singers across the 15 gender-neutral categories by visiting vote.mtv.com through Friday, September 1. The exciting annual event will held September 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and feature surprise performances during the live show held at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
