KSI and Tommy Fury receive first drug test results ahead of grudge fight

KSI and Tommy Fury have both returned negative tests to the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association after in-camp samples were taken ahead of their fight next month.

The YouTube star and his boxer rival both insisted on stringent testing for the bout, which will take place at a sold-out AO Arena in Manchester on October 14 in front of a global pay-per-view audience. The event is being sanctioned by the Professional Boxing Association and not the British Boxing Board of Control, but will take place under standard professional boxing rules.

And that, it appears, includes extra testing which has been ordered by KSI's Misfits Boxing promotion in order to make sure both men are clean athletes. There has never been any indication previously of either man having any sort of issue with drug testing, and all of their previous tests with publicly available results have shown negative findings.

The PBA today took to Instagram to share the initial results of their fight, with a story post that read: "VADA Testing (in-camp testing for October 14. Tommy Fury, Test: August 22. Result: Negative. KSI, Test: August 28. Result: Negative. Ongoing..."

There appeared to be a minor issue over drug testing in the lead-up to the fight, with Fury at one stage claiming that KSI took some time to agree to his terms regarding the tests. But that was quickly dispelled and the fight was made at a catchweight of 183lb as requested by the Manchester native.

KSI hit out at Fury by branding him "delusional" for his demand over the weight, telling fans on his YouTube channel: “You’re disrespecting me and that’s p***ing me off. I’m tired of this back and forth with your stupid a** team. I know you’re not going to get this type of money anywhere else. Remember, you need me and I definitely don’t need you.”

Fury responded to KSI's comments by saying: "Here we go again guys, KSI going on about how it’s my fault the contract hasn’t been signed yet. Just a few things to clear up, KSI has only just agreed to do drug testing for this fight and now he’s complaining about the weight."

The fight will headline Misfits Boxing's 10th event, which is titled 'The Prime Card' after KSI and Logan Paul's beverage company. Promoters have referred to it as the 'Super Bowl of influencer boxing' with other bouts confirmed including Paul vs Dillon Danis, Anthony Taylor vs King Kenny, Chase DeMoor vs Tempo Arts and the return of Salt Papi against an as-yet unnamed opponent.
