Jeremy Vine bashes on van's door after bike is reversed over after 'scary' turn

Jeremy Vine slammed on the door of a van after he claimed it took an illegal turn on a busy London street.

The radio and TV star posted footage of the incident on X - formerly known as Twitter. Jeremy, who is an avid cyclist in the capital, wrote alongside the video: "This morning. About an hour ago. Illegal right turn, then watch. Unbelievable." His video showed him riding down a street in the capital before entering a junction.

He then filmed a white van as it was driving towards him on the other side of the road. The van turned right across the path, forcing Jeremy to stop. The broadcaster was heard honking his bike horn. He rode behind the van, which started reversing into him. In panic, Jeremy started banging onto the van with both hands urging the driver to stop.

The video sparked a huge debate online as people questioned who was in the wrong. One person said: "Scary as hell. Glad you're okay. Can't believe the van took an illegal turn and then tried to correct it by reversing the wrong way! Points are not enough, immediate license revoke." Another added: "This is really bad." While someone else wrote: "So the guy makes a mistake, tries to rectify it but rather than help, the cyclist chooses to stay behind the van hammering on the door. Ambulance chasers."

A fourth questioned: "Why would you stop right behind him knowing he would have to reverse back out you could have avoided that." Jeremy often takes to social media to share videos of him cycling, which often cause fiery debates as he points out drivers mistakes. Last month, Jeremy shared how he feels 'lucky to be alive' after surviving a freak accident. His love of cycling saw him nearly fall to his death from nine-feet up while on his Penny Farthing and the incident ended with him falling directly on his head.

The 58-year-old accidentally rode his bicycle over some grass and hit a divot before he fell from the huge height and was left unconscious after the horror accident. Jeremy has confessed that he feels lucky to have working limbs, insisting that it's a miracle he didn't end up with worse injuries after the 'Olympic-style' fall.

Although Jeremy was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, the broadcaster has no memory of any of it happening after the accident was wiped from his memory when he landed on his head. Opening up about the horrific accident on the How To Be 60 podcast, Jeremy recalled: "I had a near-death experience a year ago where I fell off, I mean it is ridiculous, I fell off a Penny Farthing.

"I had been learning to ride a Penny Farthing. It's brilliant because everybody laughs and stares – it's great. However, the one thing nobody said to me is if it stops suddenly, you are only going one place. You are going over the handlebars, that's it. And your head is nearly nine feet up," he told. "I was knocked out, but the person who saw it said it was like something from the Olympics."

Jeremy went on to confess that he believes it's a miracle that he wasn't in any way permanently damaged after the fall as he recognises the severity of the accident. The TV star has confessed that he feels 'lucky' to have not ended up in a wheelchair after falling from the huge height.
