Fans share in disappointment as NSYNC doesn't perform at VMA's
NSYNC made a surprise appearance at the MTV's 2023 VMA's shocking life-long fans - including Taylor Swift - as the iconic '90s boyband took the stage to present the Best Pop Award.
The group of five, made up of Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, and Joey Fatone, were met with an eruption of applause as they joined together for the first time in years. But fans were soon filled with anger and great disappointment when they discovered that the five singers were not reuniting for a performance or to announce a comeback.
And it was Taylor who ended up picking up the gong, but not before she shared in the thrill of all fans as she jumped with joy at the famous singers reuniting on stage. Taylor said what all fans were thinking when she was presented with the award onstage asking the group: "What's going to happen now? They're doing something and I need to know what it is. You're pop personified so to receive this from your golden pop hands - it's too much."
When Taylor greeted the group on stage, each of the band member handed her a friendship bracelet. Taylor was giddy during the interaction as she told the group she had "had their dolls" when she was growing up.
But to many viewers dismay, the group did nothing but present the award to Taylor and give her a heartfelt gift. MTV fans flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts on the on-stage reunion and their shock that the group didn't perform.

Another added: "So I sat through 4 hrs of VMAs waiting for NSYNC to perform??"
And a third said: "Are we supposed to just move on from this NSYNC reunion?"
NSYNC well-known for their famous smash hits Bye, Bye, Bye, Tearin' Up My Heart and I Want You Back, split up in 2004 after Justin Timberlake reportedly wanted to focus on his solo career. The rest of the four members continued the band without him for a few years but later decided to break up the band for good in 2007.
But good news for NSYNC fans might be on the horizon as the boyband has been rumoured to be reuniting to create a song for a new children's animated movie this year. As the third Trolls movie, titled "Trolls Band Together," sets to debut in theaters in October of this year, speculation as grown that NSYNC will be making a new song for the movie as their band's logo was spotted on promotional posters in New York City.
The band has not confirmed the news, but many fans are speculating that this guest appearance at the VMA's is hinting to the band's reunion to release a new song together.
