Clueless actress left red-faced as she's 'mistaken for Avril Lavigne's PA'

Alicia Silverstone was reportedly mistaken for a member of Avril Lavigne's entourage at New York Fashion Week. As if!

The Clueless actress, 46, was in the audience for Christian Siriano's show as the fashion designer celebrated the 15th anniversary of his clothing line at the Pierre in New York City. Other attendees included singer Avril, 38, who sat on the front row at the show on Friday alongside Alicia and other celebrities. There's said to have been some confusion though, which Hollywood actress Alicia was the first to laugh off.

According to PageSix, another guest is said to have mistakenly thought that Alicia - who is best known for her role as Cher Horowitz in Clueless (1995) - was part of Avril's entourage whilst sitting in the front row at the event.

A source told the outlet that Alicia - whose other credits include films like Batman & Robin (1997) and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004) appeared "confused" when the guest asked if she worked for the singer-songwriter.

It's been reported that the guest soon realised their mistake and apologised to Alicia, whose decades-long career has included winning various accolades. The source said that the guest told the acclaimed actor: "I'm so sorry."

The source however suggested that Alicia took the mix-up over her identity well. They told the outlet following the alleged situation at NYFW last week: "Alicia was a good sport about it." The source added: "She just kind of laughed."

Alicia and Avril weren't the only celebrities seated on the front row at the recent fashion show though. They were joined by a host of other well-known guests at the event in New York City, including singer Janet Jackson, 57.

The Grammy Award winner opted to wear a lengthy brown jacket as part of her look for the event. She was seen alongside other celebrity guests including singer Kesha, 36, and actor Laverne Cox, 51, who were also on the front row.

Laura Linney, 59 - known for shows like Showtime's The Big C and Netflix's Ozark - was also present. She was seen wearing a black dress that featured ruffled detailing on the sleeves. She accompanied it with black stilettos.

Rosie Perez, 59 - whose career has included acting roles in films like Fearless (1993) and a brief stint as a co-host on ABC's The View - was also there. She seemed to wear a black jacket dress, that included sheer sleeves, over a skirt.
