Steven Tyler announced Monday the heartbreaking news that he suffered "vocal cord damage" forcing Aerosmith to postpone upcoming shows on their "Peace Out" farewell tour.

Steven, the lead singer of the legendary rock band, shared the news on Twitter that he had suffered vocal damage and by doctor's orders is not able to perform onstage for the next 30 days. It still remains unclear whether the 75-year-old singer will need further medical care after resting his vocal cords.

The Demon of Screamin' took to social media writing: "I’m heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days," Tyler shared on the band's social media platforms Monday. He continued: "I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve."

The dates that have been postponed include shows in Detroit, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Toronto, Raleigh and Cleveland. The singer assured his fans that all of their purchased tickets will be honoured for the rescheduled dates. He also shared that fans unable to attend the new dates will be refunded.

Concerned fans flocked to Twitter showering the rock band with love and support for the famous rockstar and wished Steven a healthy and speedy road to recovery.

One fan wrote: "Feel better soon @IamStevenT! Wishing you and praying for a full recovery. Health first, we’ll be here waiting for you."

Another fan added: "Take care of yourself, I hope you'll feel better soon so we can all listen to your fantastic voice."

And a third Tweeted: "Steven Tyler will be back in the saddle in no time. He’s going to do what it takes to get well."

This comes as Aerosmith embarked on their last tour after over 50 years in the music industry. Labelled as "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band" the rockers have made a monumental impact on the genre with 10 world tours, million of fans, and an inspiration to many subsequent musicians. The band includes lead vocalist Steven Tyler, guitarist Joe Perry, bassist Tom Hamilton, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarist Brad Whitford.
